  • Patent number: 5920276
Abstract: A weather radar and terrain map display system for aircraft with the terrain elevation and weather information displayed in an easy to read and comprehend presentation. The system includes an antenna for transmitting and receiving radar signals, a receiver for digitizing the reflected radar signals, and a computer for storing the signals and calculating the latitude and longitude coordinates of the locations from which the reflected radar signals were reflected, and for storing terrain elevation data. A display simultaneously shows a plan view image and vertical views of contoured terrain elevation data and the weather conditions found by the radar. The terrain and weather displays are superimposed over one another to enable quick and efficient location of critical terrain and weather conditions. The system can also calculate the latitude and longitude coordinates of the radar echoes without antenna stabilization.

  • Patent number: 5828332
Abstract: A weather radar and terrain map display system for aircraft with the terrain elevation and weather information displayed in an easy to read and quickly comprehendible presentation. The system includes an antenna for transmitting and receiving radar signals, a digitizer for digitizing the reflected radar signals, a means for storing the signals and calculating the latitude and longitude coordinates of the features from which the reflected radar signals were reflected, and for storing terrain elevation data. Flight modes are programmable to rapidly change a size of an alert region appropriate for the current flight mode. A display simultaneously shows a plan view image and vertical views of contoured terrain elevation data and the weather conditions found by the radar. The terrain and weather displays 15 are superimposed over one another to enable quick and efficient location of critical terrain and weather conditions.

  • Patent number: 5202690
Abstract: A Weather radar and map display system for use in aircraft includes a transmitter for transmitting radar signals outwardly from the aircraft, a receiver for receiving back reflected radar signals, a digitizer for digitizing the reflected radar signals, a processor for calculating the latitude and longitude coordinates of the locations in space from which the reflected radar signals were reflected based on detected range information of the reflected radar signals and detected heading, position and track information of the aircraft, and a storage device for storing the digitized signals and the latitude and longitude coordinates calculated for respective reflected radar signals.

  • Patent number: 4940987
Abstract: An automatic horizontal and vertical scanning radar for aircraft for displaying weather conditions includes an antenna system mounted in the aircraft for sweeping horizontally and vertically in response to horizontal and vertical drive signals and for transmitting radar signals forwardly of the aircraft and receiving back reflected radar signals, a receiver for digitizing received reflected radar signals, a storage unit for storing the digitized signals, a display unit responsive to display control signals for displaying a plan view image of weather conditions ahead of the aircraft represented by reflected radar signals received by the antenna system sweeping back and forth horizontally and a vertical view image of weather conditions represented by reflected radar signals received by the antenna system moving up and down vertically, and a control unit for supplying horizontal and vertical drive signals to the antenna system, and for producing control signals from the stored digitized signals.

  • Patent number: 4674483
Abstract: Shoulder retraction apparatus for use on a table on which a patient is lying. The apparatus includes a base plate for placement under the patient's legs, a footboard attached to the baseplate near the rearward end thereof to extend upwardly, a pair of shoulder slings formed of loops of material to fit over the shoulders of the patient, and ties for connecting the shoulder slings to the footboard to pull the shoulders toward the footboard under tension.

  • Patent number: 4651732
Abstract: A three dimensional guidance system for percutaneous invasive procedures which develops a line of light above a patient's body to indicate the entry point and path of the invasive instrument. Guidance is provided by alignment of the instrument with the line of light. The line is developed at the intersection of narrow beams of light from light sources mounted at one end and one side of the patient's body. The light sources are mounted for rotation about mutually perpendicular axes and means is provided for precise adjustment of each light source relative to the patient's body to accurately position the line of intersection.
