  • Patent number: 5911955
Abstract: A device for using candle heat to diffuse aromatic oil, while avoiding overheating of the oil. A ring having an oil holding groove is supported by downwardly projecting tabs, from the candle holder, with the oil holding groove being above and encircling the candle flame, without any portion of the groove being directly over the flame. Radiant heat from the candle flame is conducted to the oil holding groove by means of radiation absorbing fingers projecting upward and inward from the ring. Several design features control the heat flow to the oil groove, including design choices of the width and number of the radiation absorbing fingers, and the number and angular size of a plurality of slots in the ring which block heat transfer at the locations of the slots, and the size of the outer diameter of the ring, from which some heat energy is radiated away from the device. The ring is constructed with compound bends for enhanced strength.

  • Patent number: 5827483
Abstract: An essential oil diffuser having a compact foldable tripod support is provided to facilitate carrying the diffuser in luggage such as briefcases or handbags. The essential oil diffuser will heat oil to the proper temperature without risk of overheating or burning the oil through combustion. In order to achieve a compact package having a short vertical dimension, the oil bowl must be placed close to the candle flame and so the diffuser includes a double bowl assembly supported by three folding legs. The double bowl assembly has an upper bowl member and a lower plate member separated by a uniform air gap. The lower plate member has a large radial flange extending beyond the perimeter of the upper bowl member, thereby containing spills. The lower flange of the lower plate member also serves as a heat sink, thereby diffusing and dissipating excess heat from the candle by convection and radiation.

  • Patent number: 4445742
Abstract: An electrical connector has a first connector member including a plate-like body with retaining notches in the edges thereof, having a connector end and an attachment end, at least one strip of electrically conductive material on at least one face of the body extending from the connector end to the attachment end, and a lead wire anchored to the attachment end and attached to the strip, and a second connector member including a housing of resilient electrically insulating material forming a socket for receiving the body of the first connector member, a contact member located in the socket in position to contact the strip and having a portion for attachment to a second lead wire, and rigid retainer pins incorporated in the housing extending across the socket spaced apart to interfit with the notches, the pins being displaceable in the housing in response to insertion or withdrawal of the first connector member with respect to the second connector member.
