  • Publication number: 20190301727
Abstract: A luminaire includes a loudspeaker coupled with a housing, one or more light sources coupled with the housing, and a light pipe, coupled with the housing, that forms a grille portion for the loudspeaker. The light pipe transfers light to one or more light-emitting surfaces that emit the light from the luminaire. A light pipe includes monolithically formed first and second portions of an optical material. The first portion is a perforated plate characterized by a perimeter and defining a first light-emitting surface. The second portion extends away from the perimeter, forms one or more light coupling surfaces that receive light from one or more light sources, and defines a second light-emitting surface. In operation, when the light is received into the light coupling surfaces from the light sources, at least a portion of the light emits from the first and second light-emitting surfaces.

  • Patent number: 9456478
Abstract: A single board light engine includes an AC to AC step driver that selectively powers multiple LED segments by controlling tap points between the LED segments as the input voltage goes from zero crossover to maximum voltage and returns to zero crossover. The step driver may power a first LED segment, a second LED segment, both the first and second LED segments, or none of the LED segments depending upon the input voltage level. The LEDs within an LED segment may share a characteristic that differs from a characteristic shared by LEDs in another segment, which allows the LED fixture to provide a variety of lighting effects.
