  • Patent number: 8869501
Abstract: A clamping assembly (2) adapted to clamp a component (4), the assembly comprising: first and second clamping members (10, 20), the first and second clamping members being movable with respect to one another in a first direction to selectively clamp the component therebetween; and a bearing element (30) positionable between the component and one of the first and second clamping members, the bearing element being configured to permit relative movement between the component and one of the first and second clamping members in a second direction.

  • Patent number: 8702380
Abstract: A clamping assembly comprising a bearing support member (16), the bearing support member being clampable to a shaft (2) by virtue of a clamping member (24) adaptable to tighten the bearing support member to the shaft, wherein at least a portion (16?) of the bearing support member (16) is disposable between a first abutment surface (28) provided on the clamping member and a second abutment surface (25) provided on the shaft; and wherein the portion (16?) of the bearing support member (16) comprises one or more protrusions (30) and one or more depressions (32) provided on an end face (16a, 16b) of the portion of the bearing support member, the protrusions and depressions being arranged to interface with one or more corresponding depressions (36) and protrusions (34) provided on one of the first abutment surface of the clamping member and the second abutment surface of the shaft, the respective protrusions and depressions being disposed so as to resist relative rotation between the shaft and the bearing support

  • Publication number: 20120258808
Abstract: A hollow shaft 102 for transmitting torsion or bending forces is disclosed. The hollow shaft 102 comprises a first portion 108 having a first wall thickness t1, a second portion 110 having a second wall thickness t2 which is greater than the first wall thickness t1, and a transition region 112 between the first and second portions 108, 110. The transition region comprises inner 106 and outer annular 104 shoulder fillets, the inner shoulder fillet 106 being axially offset from the outer shoulder fillet 104 towards the first portion 108. In this manner, the local stress concentrations caused by the inner and outer fillets are axially staggered along the transition region.
