  • Patent number: 4831952
Abstract: A gliding anchor for mooring a vessel includes a central shank having a weighted forward end and a blade hinged to said shank. The blade is hinged to the shank by means of a pantographic linkage, the rear link being longer than the forward link to provide downward inclination of the blade when in its open position. The blade is provided with a pair of upswept wings extending on either side of the shank which serve to cause the anchor to glide when the blade is deployed in a first position wherein its longitudinal axis lies parallel to that of the shank. These wings are deployed as bottom engaging flukes when the blade is rotated downwards about the hinge to a second open position by a force being applied to the anchor line attached to the rear of the shank.

  • Patent number: 4360177
Abstract: A suspension clamp for an electrical conductor or other filamentary member comprising an open-sided housing able to be presented transversely to a conductor to extend at least partially around it, said housing being adapted for securement to a support, a conductor engaging cradle supported by said housing provided with axially extending walls spaced inwardly from said housing, said housing and cradle being able to accept a plurality of helical conductor clamping rods between said housing and said cradle for surrounding and providing clamping force between said conductor and said cradle thereby to secure said conductor to said clamp.

  • Patent number: 4159393
Abstract: A vibration damper comprising a resilient messenger cable having a clamp intermediate its ends for securing it to a conductor. The cable has a weight secured to each end thereof, the center of gravity of each of the weights being disposed away from the axis of the cable. Each of the weights comprises an enlarged head portion attached to the ends of the cable, an arm extending from the head portion in a generally inward direction and a further mass supported at the distal end of the arm, the further mass being smaller in size and weight than the head portion. The size and placement of the further mass produces substantial local flexing of the messenger cable adjacent the innermost point of contact of the cable with the weight when the weight oscillates about its center of gravity.
