  • Patent number: 8612145
Abstract: In a method for stand-alone alignment of an inertial unit for an onboard instrument capable of being mounted in an aircraft, the method includes monitoring the appearance of a movement of the inertial unit during the alignment, suspending the alignment of the inertial unit in the event of the appearance of movement, and resuming the alignment of the inertial unit on the disappearance of the movement.

    Assignee: Thales
Inventors: Jean-René Chevalier, Gaël Mulhaupt, Philippe Chesne
  • Patent number: 8466809
Abstract: The invention relates to a system including two integrated electronics instruments mounted onboard an aircraft and communication links between the two integrated electronics instruments, each integrated electronics instrument including independent determination of flight parameters of the aircraft and display of either flight parameters or navigation parameters of the aircraft. The system also includes a selection module making it possible to choose, from the sensors of the two integrated electronics instruments, those retained for determining the flight parameters. Embodiments of the invention also relate to a method using the system described above. The method includes selecting from the two integrated electronics instruments the sensors retained for determination of the flight parameters according to their availability, and displaying the determined flight parameters on the display of any one or both of the integrated electronics.

  • Patent number: 8082874
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention relates to a method for managing the display of a rotary indicator on a digital screen, the method making it possible to permanently display in a window at least one value of the indicator in the form of characters, the values scrolling vertically in the window, a distance d defining a spacing between two characters of two successive values. The distance d varies between a value dmini when two successive values are visible in the window and a value dmaxi when a single value is visible in the window.

  • Publication number: 20110005298
Abstract: A method for independent alignment of an inertial measurement unit for a stand-by instrument in an aircraft determining a status of the aircraft, that is to say whether or not the aircraft is in flight, and in the case where the aircraft is detected as being in flight, carrying out a flight alignment, and in the case where the aircraft is not detected as being in flight, determining a stability of the aircraft, that is to say whether the aircraft is on the ground or at sea, and in the case where the aircraft is detected as being on the ground, carrying out a ground alignment, and in the case where the aircraft is detected as being at sea, carrying out a sea alignment.

  • Publication number: 20080125923
Abstract: The present invention relates to a standby instrument for the instrument panel for use on aircraft. The standby instrument comprising means for calculating and displaying flight information based on data supplied by devices incorporated in a standby system, comprises means of calculating a representation of the devices and their links and means of displaying this representation (51-58), the means of calculating the representation indicating an unavailability (50) of the data supplied by a device (53). The invention is particularly applicable for reducing repair times or the detections of false failures on standby instruments incorporated in the instrument panel of an aircraft. More generally, it is applicable for facilitating and ensuring the reliability of the maintenance of such a standby instrument.

  • Publication number: 20070286296
Abstract: The invention pertains to a method of serially transmitting data between a transmitter and a receiver, the data being expressed by means of predefined words wherein consecutive bits, each bit being in a determined logic state out of two possible logic states. Changes of logic state between two bits transmitted by the transmitter occur only according to a first substantially regular period. The receiver reads the bits received from the transmitter only according to a second substantially regular period. The first and the second period are substantially equal. Each word transmitted comprises a first number of identical consecutive bits in the first logic state, the first number being at least equal to two, followed by at least two identical consecutive bits in the second logic state. Between two distinct words, the number of identical consecutive bits in the first logic state of each differs by at least three.
