  • Publication number: 20030149292
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for preparing alkyl nitrites of formula (I) R ONO (I) ONO wherein R represents a C1-C20, advantageously C2-C10 linear or branched alkyl group. The invention is characterised in that it consists in gradually and continuously adding in an aqueous medium, an alcohol of formula (II) R OH, R being as defined above, a nitrite of formula (III) M NO2, wherein M represents a metal cation, and a strong acid, so as to form continuously said alkyl nitrite, and in continuously drawing off said alkyl nitrite thus formed from the reaction medium.

  • Patent number: 6555678
Abstract: A method has been developed for making regenerated cellulose yarn. The method includes the steps of spinning a solution derived from cellulose or a cellulose derivative in a molten state through at least one extrusion die, then regenerating the cellulose by treating the resulting yarn, wherein a silylated cellulose derivative is prepared by reaction with a silylating agent; the silylated cellulose is extracted from the synthesis reaction medium; then spun through at least an extrusion die; and the resultant yarn treated with a desilylation agent to regenerate the cellulose and a siloxane. The resulting cellulose yarns or fibers may be used for making woven or knitted textile surfaces or non-woven surfaces. Said yarns or fibers are also useful as reinforcing fibers in elastomeric materials and more particularly, in tires.

  • Patent number: 6369186
Abstract: The invention concerns a novel cross-linkable composition and its use for preparing novel polyurethane films. The cross-linkable composition comprises (a) 20 to 50 wt. % of polyisocyanate, (b) 50 to 80 wt. % of acrylic oligomer containing hydroxyl groupings whose content in weight relative to the acrylic oligomer is between 2.5 and 4.5% and (c) 1 to 10 wt. % of a silicon fluid of formula (1).

  • Patent number: 6197987
Abstract: The present invention relates to chemically stable, polyfunctional, perfluorinated polyorganosiloxanes (POS) comprising on the one hand fluorinated lateral grafts resulting from the hydrosilylation of perfluorinated olefins with SiH units and having alkyl and/or alkyl ester linkages but not ether linkages, and on the other hand other, non-perfluorinated functional units E capable of giving them diverse and varied physical and chemical properties and opening up avenues in numerous applications. Examples of these POS according to the invention are those of the following formula: According to another of its features, the invention relates to a process for the preparation of these polyfunctional perfluorinated POS. Applications: antifoams, agents for lowering surface tension, dirt repellents, antiadhesives, lubricants, oleophobic and/or hydrophobic agents, coatings etc.
