  • Patent number: 8642969
Abstract: This generator is equipped with a first alpha particle detector (32) for monitoring the neutrons which are emitted within a first solid angle. According to the invention it is in addition equipped with at least one second alpha particle detector (52) for monitoring the neutrons which are emitted within a second solid angle which is different from the first solid angle. The system allows an object (2) that is placed in the first solid angle to be analysed by means of one or more gamma radiation detectors (34) that are placed in the second solid angle.

  • Patent number: 8492723
Abstract: A device which includes a sealed neutron tube, equipped with an alpha particle detector and a gamma radiation detector is placed in a first position. Steps are performed in which neutrons are sent towards an object and in which data provided by the detectors is acquired and processed in order to obtain a three-dimensional mapping of the object. Further, at least one displacement of the device is performed around the object so as to place it in another position, and the steps are repeated wherein, each mapping is geometrically corrected so that it may be updated relative to the set of all mappings, and these mappings are then combined together.

  • Publication number: 20100288932
Abstract: A device (26) is used which includes a sealed neutron tube, equipped with alpha particle and gamma radiation detectors; the tube is placed in a given position (P1); steps are performed in which neutrons are sent towards the object (24), and in which data provided by the detectors is acquired and processed in order to obtain a three-dimensional mapping of the object. According to the invention, at least one displacement of the device is performed around the object so as to place it in another position (P2, P3, P4), the steps are repeated, each mapping is geometrically correctly so that that it may be updated relative to the set of all mappings, and these are combined together.

  • Publication number: 20100284504
Abstract: Device and apparatus for measuring the enrichment profile of a nuclear fuel rod. Thermal neutrons are used for measurement. The rod (12) comprises a longitudinal stack of fuel pellets (48). The invention uses a neutron absorbing shield (34) relative to which the rod is moved and which is provided to protect a longitudinal region of the stack against the thermal neutrons with the exception of one or more pellets included in this region, with a view to detecting the radiation they emit by interaction with the thermal neutrons and hence to deducing the enrichment profile.

  • Publication number: 20050135533
Abstract: The invention concerns a target intended to emit neutrons when it is bombarded with particles. It comprises neutron emissive parts (11) and neutron non-emissive parts (12) that are juxtaposed, said emissive and non-emissive parts forming a pattern of the type of that of a coded mask. Application in neutron generating tubes or particle accelerators.
