    Abstract: For treating a steel sheet for subsequent enamelling of the sheet with one coat of enamel: After rolling the sheet, there is deposited thereon a coat of nickel and/or cobalt, a salt of said metals or mixtures of said salts. After drying, the sheet is annealed in a decarburizing atmosphere so as to substantially totally decarburize it and, during the cooling of the annealing cycle, the coated sheet is subjected to the action of an oxidizing atmosphere containing 2 to 7% of water vapor and having an H.sub.2 /H.sub. 2 O ratio which is less than 6.
