Patent number: 7320348Abstract: A method of rejuvenating and preserving a forest by transforming wood waste. Tree species are identified in a forest area. Equipment is then selected or modified based on the identified tree species. Wood waste of the identified tree species is gathered and transformed into useful wood derived end products with the selected or modified equipment. The wood waste may be transformed into wood charcoal and used as a fuel in a furnace to heat a boiler to produce steam. The steam is used to drive a turbine that runs an electric generator to produce electricity to run equipment that transforms the wood waste.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2003Date of Patent: January 22, 2008Assignee: ECOEM, LLCInventor: Philippe R. Murcia

Patent number: 7241321Abstract: An organically clean biomass fuel formed of mixture of a powder, which may be either dried, cellulosic product, wood charcoal powder, and/or a combination of the two, and a fluid, which may be vegetable oil, vegetable alcohol or a combination of the two. A centrifugal machine dries moist, cellulosic product and extracts black liquor. A grinder transforms the dried, cellulosic product into powder. Gum may be extracted from the vegetable oil or vegetable alcohol. A batch mixer or vibrating vessel mixes the powder and the fluid together; the fluid moisturizes the powder. Depending upon the relative amount of the fluid as compared to powder, the mixture will either be in a liquid cream state or a doughy state. If the latter, the mixture may be pressed into briquettes or ingots.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2004Date of Patent: July 10, 2007Assignee: Ecoem, LLCInventor: Philippe R. Murcia

Patent number: 6821595Abstract: A composite material panel having alternating layers of wood veneer with recycled or waste material. The layers are sandwiched together. The technique involves forming the composite material layer by layer and employing materials in each layer that are suited to satisfy requirements for specific kinds of construction. The layer of recycled or waste material is preferably flexible and has memory. Some examples include plastic straw, bars from plastic, tires or metal, balls from plastic or tires, sheet from plastic, tires or metal, air bubble cushioning from plastic. The metal is exemplified by aluminum and tin.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2002Date of Patent: November 23, 2004Assignee: Ecoem, L.L.C.Inventors: Philippe R. Murcia, Robert J. Hess

Publication number: 20040143463Abstract: Certification of the cleanliness of a property with respect to the amount of waste wood remnants (deadwood) that are present on the property relative to the amount of healthy biomass tree species present on the property. Proof of the certification of cleanliness may be given to the owner or resident of the property where the certification took place. Such proof may be submitted so that the owner or resident of the property receives a monetary benefit. The submission may be to an insurance company, which lowers the premium to the insured for risk of loss. The submission may be to consummate the sale or purchase of air rights over the property that satisfy carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide emission levels that are set by domestic or international standards.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2003Publication date: July 22, 2004Inventors: Philippe R. Publication number: 20040112805Abstract: Extracting energy from clean, non-potable water that had been treated at a sewage station. The extraction is by driving a water turbine and electric generator with the non-potable water, oxidizing the water as it leaves the at least one water turbine and pressurizing the oxidized, cleaned, non-potable water and mixing it with a fresh supply of clean, non-potable water to feed into the at least one water turbine. The fresh supply may be open to atmosphere and at an elevation higher than that of the at least one turbine.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 17, 2002Publication date: June 17, 2004Inventor: Philippe R. Publication number: 20040003500Abstract: A tree girdling technique that uses a water jet cutting device to effect girdling of a tree. After making an undercut in a tree, a girdler is wrapped about a tree at an elevation lower than the undercut and pressurized water with abrasive particles are dispensed from the girdler about the girth of the tree. The dispensing may be done either by rotating a port about the girth or by positioning a series of ports each arranged to direct the pressurized water with abrasive particles to flow in a stream at an oblique angle relative to the inner face of the girdler.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2003Publication date: January 8, 2004Inventor: Philippe R. Publication number: 20030159913Abstract: A portable reactor container that contains a removable fire grate enclosure and an incline on its floor that slopes to a discharge port. Heating elements are arranged between the enclosure and the container. A heat recovery section, which may be a water reservoir, surrounds the outside of the container to convert water into steam by absorbing heat leaving the container. The enclosure may be inserted into or removed from the container with a forklift. Wood waste or other wood waste material may be filled into the fire crate enclosure to be transformed into wood charcoal by heating appropriately while the container is hermetically sealed.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2002Publication date: August 28, 2003Inventor: Philippe R. Publication number: 20020148716Abstract: A portable kiln is transported to a site of logging where there is significant wood waste. At the site, wood waste is collected. The portable kiln is assembled as it is being loaded with wood waste. Once the portable kiln is assembled it is lit with all air intakes open. When combustion is complete and charring begins, some of the air intakes are closed. When charring ends, all of the air intakes and exhausts are closed to permit the kiln to cool down.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2002Publication date: October 17, 2002Inventor: Philippe R. Patent number: 6357653Abstract: A container that holds wood charcoal. The container has a collapsible spout that is positioned so that, when the container is tipped, wood charcoal pours out when the spout is in the fully extended position. The spout is collapsible to close an opening in a front face to facilitate storage. A handle is provided at the top to facilitate grasping while pouring out the wood charcoal.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2001Date of Patent: March 19, 2002Inventor: Philippe R. Murcia
