A self-contained straining skillet allows the food to be cooked in a concave skillet insert containing a plurality of apertures, which may then be lifted to drain the grease and fat into the lower receiving skillet. Both the lining skillet and the receiving skillet may contain pour spouts to allow for effective transfer of grease. The receiving skillet, alone or with the lining skillet insert, may be used with standard size stove burners.
