  • Publication number: 20230108099
Abstract: In order to address the sustainability and environmental issues associated with conventional HVAC filters, inventive HVAC filters have been developed that are completely biodegradable and compostable and exhibit Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) ratings that are superior to conventional HVAC filters. More particularly, it has been discovered that biodegradable electrospun nanofibers can be used to produce biodegradable HVAC filters that exhibit superior filtration performance relative to conventional HVAC filters produced from polypropylene electrostatic media or triboelectric nonwoven media.

  • Patent number: 11583797
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a dual density air filtration media that comprises a plurality of nanofibers layers formed from nanofibers having different fiber diameters. Due to the presence of these multiple nanofiber layers with different nanofiber diameters, the resulting filtration media of the present invention comprises a gradient density. In particular, the present invention uses a novel combination of two or more layers of nanofibers made via an electrospinning process, wherein the nanofiber layers made up from different fiber sizes are strategically applied to a cellulose or synthetic base material or substrate, to thereby maximize the filtration efficiency and dust holding capacity of the resulting filtration media.

  • Patent number: 11585025
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to the design and manufacture of nanofiber layers, webs, films, or membranes that may be self-supporting and can function as standalone products. More particularly, the present invention relates to a microporous nanofiber films and the use of such films in a wide variety of products and applications, including applications where physical property tuning is typically limited. Generally, the microporous films of the present invention can function as a standalone nanofiber membrane or can be bonded to other microporous films to produce a layered stacked film stack with customizable properties. Unlike conventional microporous films available in today's market, the microporous films of the present invention can be lighter, require less raw material cost to produce, and can improve operating performances in a variety of applications.

  • Publication number: 20160222461
Abstract: The prognosis of a cancer patient can be determined by analyzing the modulation of expression of specified genes in the tumor tissue. Genes uniquely up-regulated in adult stem cells that can reconstitute the tissue of the tumor are analyzed for up-regulation in the patient's tumor. Up-regulation of a plurality of such genes in the tumor is an indication of good prognosis. Genes uniquely up-regulated in fetal stem cells are analyzed for up-regulation in the patient's tumor. Up-regulation of a plurality of such genes in the tumor are an indication of a poor prognosis. Specific genes are disclosed, the modulation of which, in a patient's prostate cancer tumor, will serve as an indication of prognosis. Patients with a good prognosis are subjected to watchful waiting. Patients with a poor prognosis are aggressively treated. Kits are provided containing a set of affinity reagents that specifically detect expression of the various genes.

  • Patent number: 7596875
Abstract: A template and method for sizing horseshoes. The template includes a plate against which ground-contacting portion of a horse's hoof is placed. The plate has a plurality of adjustment members thereon. Each adjustment member is individually movable from a first position remote from a perimeter of said hoof, to a second position adjacent the perimeter. When the adjustment members are all in the second position, they are locked into position. The adjustment members define a region that is generally shaped to conform to the perimeter of the horse's hoof. The farrier works a horseshoe until the shoe is able to be received within the region defined by the adjustment members. The worked horseshoe may then be nailed to the horse's hoof.

  • Publication number: 20030220866
Abstract: A method for providing advertising services in general media using a pay-for-performance model is provided. A service provider defines at least one biddable advertisement for presentation in advertising media. A bid amount chargeable to a participating advertiser upon a response to the at least one biddable advertisement is determined, generally by an open auction conducted by the service provider. The biddable advertisement is associated with a participating advertiser based, at least in part, on the bid amount. As responses to the biddable advertisement are received by the service provider, they are provided to the associated participating advertiser and that participating advertiser is charged the bid amount for the response. The advertiser associated with a biddable ad can change in real time based on the auction and association mechanisms used by the service provider, such as a bid weighted rotation which associates the biddable ad to a number of participating advertisers.
