Publication number: 20220023002Abstract: A method of dental treatment may include receiving one or more photo parameters to define clinically acceptable criteria for a plurality of clinically relevant photos of a person's dentition. The clinically acceptable criteria may include at least a plurality of clinically acceptable positions and a plurality of clinically acceptable orientations of teeth relative to a camera. The method may also include gathering a plurality of image-capture rules to capture the plurality of clinically relevant photos. The plurality of image capture rules may be based on the one or more photo parameters. The method may also include providing first automated instructions to capture the plurality of clinically relevant photos of the person's dentition using the plurality of image-capture rules and capturing the plurality of clinically relevant photos with the camera in response to the first automated instructions.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2021Publication date: January 27, 2022Applicant: ALIGN TECHNOLOGY, INC.Inventors: Christopher E. Publication number: 20200020170Abstract: In an embodiment, a processing device receives image data of a face from an image capture device associated with an augmented reality (AR) display. The processing device processes the image data to a) identify a mouth in the image data, b) identify a dental arch in the mouth, and c) determine a position of the dental arch relative to a position of the AR display. The processing device determines a treatment outcome for the dental arch, generates a visual overlay comprising an indication of the treatment outcome at the determined position of the dental arch, and outputs the visual overlay to the AR display, wherein the visual overlay is superimposed over a view of the dental arch on the AR display.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2019Publication date: January 16, 2020Inventors: Ozi Marom, Pavel Pokotilov, Anton Lapshin, Evgeniy Malashkin, Sergei Ozerov, Yury Slynko, Andrey Sergeevich Nekrasov, Leonid Vyacheslavovich Grechishnikov, Anna Orlova, Assaf Weiss, Maayan Moshe, Yingjie Li, Phillip Thomas Harris, Maurice K. Patent number: 10467815Abstract: A processing device generates a visual overlay comprising a virtual model of a dental arch that represents a treatment outcome for the dental arch. The processing device outputs the visual overlay to an augmented reality (AR) display or virtual reality (VR) display. The processing device receives user input based on a user interaction with the virtual model of the dental arch, wherein the user input modifies the virtual model of the dental arch and determines an update to the treatment outcome for the dental arch based on a user input. The processing device generates an updated treatment plan based on the update to the treatment outcome and updates the visual overlay, wherein the updated visual overlay comprises a view of the dental arch after the updated treatment outcome.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2017Date of Patent: November 5, 2019Assignee: Align Technology, Inc.Inventors: Ozi Marom, Assaf Weiss, Maayan Moshe, Yingjie Li, Phillip Thomas Harris, Maurice K.
