  • Patent number: 7249356
Abstract: A batch event historian gathers, stores and presents data regarding a batch process where relationships among the various elements of data are automatically derived by an executive program. A persistent store includes structure corresponding to the relationships defined among procedural elements and equipment in accordance with batch processing industry S88.01 standards. The executive program gathers event information generated by the batch process and derives the relationships among the events in accordance with these industry standard models. Storage and corresponding retrieval and presentation of such historical data is thereby simplified for a user because the user need not manually configure the historian programs to derive the relationships. Association of any continuous data log with event information is automated thereby obviating the need for manual configuration by a user to establish such associations.

  • Patent number: 6430447
Abstract: An implantable stimulating electrode for directly contacting the endocardium of a human heart exhibits low polarization values of less than about 0.3 mV and is intended for use with an implantable lead having an electrical connector coupled to the proximal end of a conductor for releasable attachment to a stimulating pulse generator. The electrode is comprised of a metallic substrate having an initially exposed outer surface substantially covered with a first inner layer of titanium nitride and a second outer layer of platinum black. The first inner layer of titanium nitride has a thickness of less than about 15 microns and the second outer layer of platinum black overlying the layer of titanium nitride, similarly, has a thickness of less than about 15 microns. The invention includes a method of making the implantable stimulating electrode.

  • Patent number: 6198973
Abstract: An electrode assembly for a body implantable lead comprises a longitudinally extending dispenser housing having an internal cavity with opposed longitudinally extending openings for storing a drug to be dispensed. A tip electrode integral and axially aligned with the dispenser housing has a face adapted for positioning adjacent the desired body site, a transverse channel formed into and transversely across its face, and an orifice extending between the channel and the internal cavity for elution of the drug to the desired body site. A weld sleeve integral and axially aligned with the dispenser housing distant from the tip electrode has an outer peripheral surface for engageably receiving one end of an elongated electrical conductor, and a collar spaced from the dispenser housing. The electrical conductor is welded to the collar to obtain a welded connection for electrical continuity between the tip electrode and the electrical conductor.

  • Patent number: 5158547
Abstract: A technique for protecting an implantable drug administration device from damage caused by over filling. The protection is implemented using an automatic valve positioned between the puncturable sealing septum and the reservoir. This automatic valve is operated volumetrically by coupling the valve actuator to the diaphragm which separates the drug chamber from the fluid volume compensation chamber. When the diaphragm flexes to the maximum fill position, the valve actuator closes the automatic valve, thus prohibiting any further transfer to the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4650469
Abstract: A system for delivering a drug to a patient according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention is shown as being of modular construction including a control module and a reservoir module. The reservoir module is removably secured to the control module by a removable hinge member at one end and a locking member at the other end. The reservoir module includes a pressure plate upon which a tube extending from a drug container bag to the patient is supported. The control module includes a pumping mechanism including a camshaft which reciprocates valves and an expulsor in the control module engaging and interacting with the tube located on the pressure plate for forcing the drug from the drug container bag to the patient. In its most preferred form, the pressure plate includes standoffs which abut with the pump chassis for insuring proper spacing maintenance between the pressure plate of the reservoir module and the control module.
