  • Publication number: 20070198215
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for performing prognosis and asset management services is provided. The method includes calculating an accumulated damage estimate for a component via a diagnostics function and applying future mission data for the component to at least one model that calculates accumulated damage or remaining life of the component. The method also includes inputting the accumulated damage estimate to the model and aggregating damage over time and quality assessments produced by the model. The method further includes calculating a damage propagation profile and remaining life estimate for the component based on the aggregating and providing an uncertainty estimate for the damage estimate and the remaining life estimate.

  • Patent number: 7239276
Abstract: Calculating the phase shifts assigned to the elements of a phased array antenna such that the resulting beam is shaped to serve a desired area of operation (AOO) has historically been computationally burdensome and often required expert intervention. To maximize computational speed, synthesis of shaped phased-array antenna beams is performed by linearizing the antenna pattern equation and then iteratively performing a mini-norm solution at each step until a solution is reached. In particular, this approach is performed in such a manner that eliminates the need for a pre-computed target and is also performed such that at each iteration the change in an element's phase is adapted to remain within a threshold range. As a result, phased array beam patterns may be synthesized and applied to phased-array antennas so as to allow real time tracking of AOOs on the Earth from Low and Medium Earth Orbit satellites.

  • Publication number: 20060142976
Abstract: A method for performing a fault estimation based on residuals of detected signals includes: determining an operating regime based on a plurality of parameters; extracting predetermined noise standard deviations of the residuals corresponding to said operating regime and scaling the residuals; calculating a magnitude of a measurement vector of the scaled residuals and comparing the magnitude to a decision threshold value; extracting a mean direction and a fault level mapping for each of a plurality of fault types, based on the operating regime; calculating a projection of the measurement vector onto the mean direction of each of the plurality of fault types; determining a fault type based on which projection is maximum; and mapping the projection to a continuous-valued fault level using a lookup table.

  • Patent number: 7003426
Abstract: A method and system for detecting precursors to compressor stall and surge in which at least one compressor parameter is monitored to obtain raw data representative of said at least one compressor parameter. The raw data is pre-processed using a frequency demodulator to produce pre-processed data, and the pre-processed raw data is post-processed using a Kalman filter to obtain stall precursors.
