  • Patent number: 5829275
Abstract: A monitoring arrangement for the filter of a washing machine is disclosed wherein the user is warned of the clogged filter when an actual clogging condition occurs. Control elements that are normally used in washing machines, such as an analog pressure switch (13) and an electronic control circuit (14), are utilized. The control parameter for detecting clogging is the variation of the water pressure before and after the priming of the drain pump (12) or the recirculator pump (17) of the machine.

  • Patent number: 5758377
Abstract: A clothes washing machine is provided with a wash tub and a perforated drum arranged therein. A recirculating pump pumps liquid contained in a conduit provided with a pressure switch in its lower portion, arranged under the tub, and directed again toward the interior of the drum. The machine is capable, at least in a rinse cycle, of filling a predetermined amount of water into the tub, to let the recirculating pump operate for a definite period of time so as to enable the water to be fully pumped into the drum. At the same time, the drum is caused to rotate at a low speed. A signal starting spin-extraction for a pre-defined period of time enables a lower water level to be restored in the tub. The initially filled-in water is let into the tub in such an amount that the upper edge of the liquid in the tub eventually remains constantly below the lower edge of the drum, such an alternate sequence of recirculation and spin-extraction phases being repeated several times.

  • Patent number: 5724690
Abstract: A clothes washing machine includes a washing tub, a drum rotatably arranged within the tub and adapted to hold the washload, and a liquor recovery reservoir, separable from the structure of the machine. A liquor transfer conduit connects the lower portion of the washing tub with the inner volume of the reservoir, preferably through a first pump situated in the conduit. A second conduit connects the inner volume of the reservoir with the inner volume of the washing tub through a second pump. As a part of a rinsing phase, the machine is adapted to the rinsing liquor from the tub to the reservoir, spin the washload holding drum at a high revolution speed, empty the tub by draining the liquor extracted from the washload during the high-speed spinning of the drum or subsequently thereto, and transfer the liquor contained in the reservoir back into the tub.

  • Patent number: 5375438
Abstract: A clothes washing machine, in particular of the household type, includes a washing tub (1), a drum (2) holding the washload, a water inlet conduit (5) from the water supply mains, an electromagnetic valve (6) provided in the conduit, an offshoot conduit (7) downstream of the electromagnetic valve and an air break (8). A water dispenser (3) is located above a plurality of compartments (4) for holding washing and rinsing agents. A siphon (10) is installed between the compartments and the washing tub, and a conduit (9) is positioned between the siphon and the water dispenser. A second water offshoot conduit (13) is provided with a respective air break (15) and is situated between the electromagnetic valve (6) and the air gap (8), wherein the second water offshoot conduit (13) flows into the conduit (9).

  • Patent number: 5127243
Abstract: The invention relates to an automatic laundry washer of the type having a laundering tub in which a drum is rotated by an electric motor at a low speed during a laundering phase, and at a high speed during at least one certrifuging period. For ensuring a complete discharge of foam and lye in the course of a centrifuging period, a pressure switch is adapted to interrupt the rotation of the drum during the centrifuging period and to disconnect the power supply to the program control unit in response to the level within the laundering tub exceeding a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4711103
Abstract: A controlling device controls the operation of a clothes washing machine having a tub, a washing liquid collector, a heating element and two thermostats within the collector, and an electric pump for circulating the washing liquid from the collector to the tub. Three pressostats or pressure switches allow washing liquid to be filled to two different levels in the machine and for controlling the working condition of a filtering element within the collector. The controlling device allows both "intensive" washing programs with only a low level of liquid in the collector and "delicate" washing programs with normal levels of liquid in the tub. Different types of laundry can be washed under the best conditions with low consumption of water, detergents and electric power.

  • Patent number: 4696171
Abstract: A washing machine comprising a tub (4), a wash basket (5) and a housing (12) for collecting the wash water. A heating element (14) and a thermostatic sensor (15), as well as a recirculation pump (17) are connected to the housing (12) and to the tub (4) through a recirculation conduit (16) in order to circulate the wash water repeatedly toward the tub (4) with the object of spraying the same onto the load to be washed. The machine is moreover equipped with pressure switches (36,23) for carrying out "vigorous" and "delicate" laundering procedures in the conventional way, and has a series of pressure switches (21, 22) for developing "vigorous" wash cycles with low water levels in the tub (4) carried out by recirculating the same water toward said tub. In this way, optimum consumption of water, detergents and electric energy is achieved dependent upon the kind and quantity of load placed in the wash basket (5).

  • Patent number: 4580421
Abstract: A laundry washing machine includes a washing tub, a washing drum for containing laundry to be washed, a collector for collecting washing liquid, and a recirculation pump connected to the collector and to the tub for recirculating the washing liquid from the collector to the tub and to spray it onto the laundry. The collector has therein at least one heating element and a thermostatic sensor for heating the washing liquid and for thermostatically controlling the temperature thereof, respectively. Level sensors and controls are provided for carrying out "intense" and "gentle" laundering programs for washing the laundry in a conventional manner, and with further sensors and controls for carrying out "intense" laundering programs at reduced filling levels of the washing liquid within the tub by repeatedly recirculating the liquid to the tub.
