  • Patent number: 5356339
Abstract: A torsion damping device includes a support wheel, having first fastening screws for attaching it to a driving shaft, a damper plate, and peripheral springs acting between the support plate and the damper plate. The damper plate, carrying a pair of guide rings, constitutes, together with the springs and a drive plate, a torsion damper which is contained in a sealed housing, the components of which are secured together by second fastening screws. The inner periphery of the sealed housing has a diameter greater than that of the pitch circle on which the holes for the first fastening screws are arranged in the support wheel, while the damper plate emerges radially from the housing, in a manner which provides axial location but circumferential sliding movement of the damper plate in the housing while preserving sealing.

  • Patent number: 4987981
Abstract: In a torque transmission, particularly for an automotive vehicle, of the kind including a hydraulic coupling unit and a locking clutch, the latter comprises essentially a piston and a clutch plate, the piston being mounted slidably on a hub to enable the friction pad to be gripped. The piston is coupled with the clutch plate through profiled coupling.

  • Patent number: 4978324
Abstract: A torsion damping device, particularly for use with automotive vehicles and of the kind comprising a support structure (11) mounted on a wheel member, e.g. a flywheel (1). The flywheel is fixed to a first shaft (A) by first fastening devices (2), and a hub (12), secured to a second shaft (B) for rotation therewith. The hub is coupled with the support structure (11) through resilient springs (14). The support structure (11) constitutes one (22) of the components (22, 23) of a sealed casing (20), which is at least partially filled with a lubricant fluid and which is secured on the flywheel by second fastening devices (21) located radially outwardly of the first fastening devices (2). The casing (20) carries and encloses a torsion damper (15) having peripheral resilient springs (14A, 14B).

  • Patent number: 4944374
Abstract: The invention relates to a clutch of the kind comprising a coupling element (33) which acts like a piston, and a clutch plate coupled with the coupling element to permit the latter to be driven in rotation. In order to drive the coupling element (33) positively in rotation in both directions, the clutch plate (35) has in combination two groups of tongue or strip portions (48T, 48R), which extend in opposite circumferential directions and which are associated in the sense that each strip portion of one group is paired with a strip portion of the other group, a strip portion (48T) of the first group being continuous with a strip portion (48R) of the second group.

  • Patent number: 4874350
Abstract: A torsional damper device comprises coaxial first and second parts which rotate relative to each other to a limited degree. The first part comprises two substantially parallel annular flanges and pivoted base members. Two parallel plates on the second part are disposed axially between the two flanges. They have at least one pair of radial arms comprising parallel and substantially circumferential fingers. Springs are disposed substantially circumferentially between the base members. The base members comprise on a surface opposite that in contact with the respective spring rounded recesses in which the fingers engage on relative rotation between the two coaxial parts. A rotational coupling device constrains the plates to rotate together and establishes a circumferential corresponding relationship between the radial arms and their fingers.

  • Patent number: 4844222
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a hydrokinetic device comprising a locking assembly adapted to provide a direct mechanical connection between its input element and its output element. According to the invention, this locking assembly comprises between a flange forming a piston and a counter flange, two discs each engaged with a hub with predetermined play, with, for the configuration of the assembly at rest, an alternate disposition in which one of the discs abuts the hub circumferentially in one circumferentially in the opposite circumferential direction. Such an arrangement is particularly applicable to an automobile transmission.

  • Patent number: 4838395
Abstract: An improvement to a torsion damping device, especially a double damped flywheel, for eliminating contact between the springs and one of the rotatable parts of the device when the springs tend to deform under the effect of centrifugal force. According to the invention, the springs, which are conventionally mounted between two pivoted thrust members, are each replaced by a damping device comprising two springs with a central insert between them, the insert being so shaped as to make contact with the inner surface of the spacing ring. The invention is applicable to an automobile transmission.

  • Patent number: 4724942
Abstract: A circulating oil clutch comprises a casing inside which are a friction disk and generally annular pressure and reaction plates, one on each side of the friction disk. These plates are axially movable relative to each other so as to be able to clamp the friction disk between them. Control means are adapted to urge the pressure plate towards the reaction plate, which is adapted to support the assembly axially. Oil circulation channels on the backs of the pressure and reaction plates form parts of a common oil circulation circuit.
