  • Patent number: 5313036
Abstract: Apparatus for thawing and reheating a deep-frozen food preparation by microwave and infrared radiation comprises a housing enclosing a heating chamber which is delimited by a tubular wall. The chamber is subjected to microwave radiation from two inlets as well as infrared radiation. The inlets of microwave radiation are arranged in two opposed regions of the tubular wall situated on either side of the central region where the food product is positioned, and the infrared heating elements comprise at least two lamps extending axially of the tubular wall and arranged on either side of the central region in two opposed regions distinct from those of the wave guide openings. A heating process performed using this apparatus involves simultaneously producing continuous microwave radiation by alternately feeding two generators branched in anti-parallel, and continuous infrared radiation, throughout a thawing and reheating cycle.

  • Patent number: 5300745
Abstract: An oven comprises a cooking chamber having a movable door (3) hinged on the forward surface (2) of said oven and provided with a hook (4) comprising a nose (5) and a catch (6). The hook enters an opening (9) in the forward surface to actuate a movable locking element (7). The locking element comprises a wheel (20) pivotally mounted on a plate (14) fixed to the forward inside surface of the oven. This wheel comprises a first surface (A) comprising two abutment lugs (22 and 23), a safety lock constituted by a blocking finger (25) fixed on the second surface (B) of the wheel and controlled by a safety spur (24) that projects through an opening (23') transversely to the first surface (A) and adapted, either to come into abutment with stop boss (26) of the plate, or to permit the rotation of the wheel. Application to all closure devices, particularly to a household microwave oven to prevent operation thereof by e.g. a child, when the door is open.

  • Patent number: 5196674
Abstract: Cooking apparatus such as, for example, an oven includes a cooking chamber (1) having at least one electrical heating element (9) having a tubular envelope (10) of fragile material of the type of quartz or glass which is mounted in supports (16, 17) secured to the chamber (1) so as to maintain the envelope (10) at a distance from the internal wall of the chamber. The tubular envelope (10) is enclosed in a cage (18) whose wall (19) is sufficiently pierced to let pass the infrared radiation toward the interior of the chamber (1) and sufficiently rigid to resist any mechanical shock. The cage (18) is provided with members (24, 25) for securing it to the internal wall of the chamber (1).

  • Patent number: 5171951
Abstract: A kitchen oven comprises, in a chamber (2), a drippings pan (6) supporting a spit (8) and adapted to occupy two positions, either a cooking position in which the drip-pings pan is in the chamber and the spit is in the axle of a rotatable drive (9), or a retracted position in which the drippings pan is partially outside the chamber (2) and the spit (8) is free from the drive. The drippings pan and the walls (3) of the oven comprises mutually sliding surfaces (20, 21) so arranged that, prior to the cooking position, the surfaces exert on each other a force F directed toward the rear of the oven tending to position the drippings pan automatically in its cooking position.

  • Patent number: 5162628
Abstract: Support for a spit (1) mounted on a drippings pan (2) and comprising two opposite supports (3) each insulated from the drippings pan by an insulating base (5) comprising a head (7) that rests on a margin (8) of the drippings pan. At least one foot (9, 10) passes through a corresponding opening (12, 13) of the drippings pan. Each opening comprises a skirt (14), and the height (h) and the section (s1, s2) of the foot are dimensioned as a function of the section (a1, a2) of the opening such that, during swinging of the support about a horizontal axis (15-16-17) by pressing of the head on the margin of the drippings pan, a region (19-20-21) of the foot opposite that axis will come to bear against the skirt, thereby preventing the foot from leaving the opening. Application to ovens with combined microwave and resistance heating.

  • Patent number: 5128158
Abstract: Cooking process with an oven comprising a cooking chamber (1) and a control device (2) supplying a convection resistance (3), a broiling resistance (4) and a magnetron (5). During the temperature increase phase (a), the control device supplies the convection resistance continuously and the broiling resistance according to a start-stop cycle of predetermined period (t.sub.1), while the microwave energy is applied periodically during each stopped time (t.sub.3) of the broiler for a time (t.sub.4) such that, for a previously set predetermined time (t.sub.5), the microwave time is equal to the shorter of the times, namely the predetermined time (t.sub.5), or the stopped time (t.sub.3) of the broiler. This process is particularly applicable to kitchen ovens.

  • Patent number: 4910370
Abstract: A microwave oven has a circuit for controlling the supply of electricity to a generator of microwave energy, the circuit having a main switch and movable contact, the opening of which is controlled by a timer. The control circuit also comprises a by-pass circuit mounted in parallel between two points having a pre-programmed timing device in series with the interrupting switch. A commutating mechanism controlled by a user is adapted to both move circuit switch to its open position and to move the interrupting switch to a closed position in which a timing device operates to allow the supply of electricity to the microwave generator.
