  • Patent number: 5474047
Abstract: A process for supplying fuel to an internal combustion engine of the multi-cylinder type with controlled fuel injection and comprising a controlled fuel vapor recovery system. During predetermined operating phases of the engine, the fuel injection is stopped for a given period, while the fuel vapors trapped in the recovery system are recycled into an intake circuit of the engine.

  • Patent number: 4938094
Abstract: A device for effecting fine adjustment of the orientation of a steering wheel on a shaft (10), which are joined together by a fastener (30), has a sleeve (40) interposed between the end (11) of the shaft (10) and the hub (20) of the steering wheel. The sleeve and the shaft define between them an annular chamber (42) in which is housed a friction member (50) opposing their spontaneous relative rotation. The fine adjustment, limited to a value of about 9.degree., is made with the aid of an arrangement including a control mechanism, amplitude limiters, and stops. These stops ensure continuity of transmission of the torque exerted on the steering wheel to the shaft in the event of slackening of the fastener or failure of the amplitude limiters.

  • Patent number: 4572632
Abstract: A composite apparatus for the direct projection and overhead or back-projection of slides comprises a box containing a source of light with a projection lens, an overhead or back-projection screen and a mirror for reflecting, towards this overhead or back-projection screen, the light beam issuing from the lens. The means ensuring the displacement of the mirror likewise provoke a displacement to take the mirror outside the box at a distance from the lens which is a function of the focal distance thereof and which is greater than that at which the mirror lies in the case of direct projection. The overhead or back-projection screen is articulated on the upper face of the box, about a horizontal, transverse pin, so as to be able to be opened into a position inclined upwardly and forwardly, to receive the light beam reflected upwardly and rearwardly by the mirror.

  • Patent number: 4308846
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring the rate of recirculation of exhaust gases in an internal combustion engine are disclosed. The rate of recirculation is measured by determining the percentage of carbon gas in the exhaust gas, determining the percentage of carbon gas in the intake gas at a point downstream from the introduction of the recirculated gas and comparing the ratios of carbon gas in the two gases. The gases are drawn off for collection and determination of carbon gas content by a vacuum generator connected to a carbon analyzer and a pressure regulator. A 3-way selection valve is used for drawing off either the exhaust or intake gas.

  • Patent number: 4188923
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for controlling the fuel feed to a stratified-charge internal combustion engine, from idle up to the position corresponding with the maximum flow of air, the overall richness (r.sub.g) of the combustible mixture is reduced by acting simultaneously upon the flow of fuel feeding the main chamber and upon the flow of fuel injected into the auxiliary chamber. For higher loads the maximum flow of air is kept constant and r.sub.g is increased by continuing to act upon both fuel flows. By keeping the richness of the mixture in the auxiliary chamber substantially constant, it is possible to obtain the best compromise between the performance of the engine and the emission of pollutant gases.

  • Patent number: 3970054
Abstract: An internal-combustion engine fed with a stratified charge and comprising an inlet leading into a combustion chamber for feeding thereinto a main charge of a lean mixture of a first fuel and air, and an injection device for injecting a second fuel into an ignition zone of the combustion chamber in an amount such that the mixture of the second fuel and the air contained in the lean mixture, in the ignition zone at the time of ignition, attains the level of the ignition richness of the second fuel. Thereby, the second fuel undergoes ignition and combustion and effects flame propagation to produce ignition of the first fuel. A holder with a ball valve protects the fuel injector of the injection device by obturating the injector at the end of the compression stroke and during ignition and the subsequent expansion stroke.
