  • Publication number: 20240099883
Abstract: According to certain general aspects, the present embodiments relate generally to a device that mobilizes the lens material inside the capsular bag. Mobilized lens material is easier to visualize than lens material lingering at the lens equator of the eye, or other areas in the capsular bag that are difficult to visualize, making the mobilized lens material easier to retrieve from the capsular bag. Mobilizing the lens material reduces the possibility that the person receiving the cataract surgery will develop secondary cataracts or infections due to lens material left inside the capsular bag.

  • Publication number: 20100132913
Abstract: In a casting method, or a casting system for aluminum, or aluminum alloys, aluminum melt is filled into a plurality of pans (15, 15?). Said pans (15, 15?) are used for treatment, if needed, and delivered to a casting station (20), in which they are subsequently emptied, and the melt is casted into semi-finished products. At least two filled pans (15, 15?) are provided in order to ensure a continuous casting operation in the casting station (20), the melt of at least one of which is drained into a mutual inflow channel (27).

  • Publication number: 20090134161
Abstract: Disclosed is a sliding closure for metallurgical vessels, comprising at least two fireproof closing parts that can be braced against each other by means of spring elements (5). At least one measuring apparatus (10) is provided for measuring the distance of the housing parts or the closing parts from each other regarding the displacement thereof transversal to the sliding areas while at least one temperature gauge is provided which is connected to an evaluation unit (20). The apparatus (10) for measuring the position of the closing parts encompasses exploring coils (12, 13) that are mounted next to each other and a core (15) located in a central opening (11a) in said coils, each of which is arranged in one of the two housing parts and which jointly form a differential throttle. The core (15) can be adjusted perpendicular to the sliding areas when the distance between the two housing parts changes, whereby a tension can be generated which can be transmitted to the evaluation unit (20).

  • Patent number: 7171326
Abstract: A method is provided for operating a sliding closure for a metallurgical vessel. The sliding closure includes two tensionable fireproof closure plates opposing one another, with each of the two closure plates being slideably positioned within a corresponding housing part. Spring elements are provided for tensioning the closure plates, wherein one of the closure plates, along with its corresponding housing part, is slideable and can be moved into a closed or open position by a drive member. The method comprises: performing an offline and/or an online diagnosis of an operating condition within an area of the closure plates, by measuring at least one of size, temperature, pressure and force associated with the sliding closure so as to obtain at least one measured value, and evaluating the at least one measured value either directly or together with additional relevant process parameters; and based upon the diagnosis, either continuing use of the sliding closure or discontinuing use of the sliding closure.

  • Publication number: 20050242094
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a sliding gate for metallurgical vessels in which the sliding gate (10) has at least two fire-resistant gate plates (21, 22), which can be tensioned against one another and which are each arranged inside a respective housing part (17, 19) in a manner that enables them to slide relative to one another. Spring elements (23) are provided in at least one of the housing parts (17, 19) in order to tension the gate plates (21, 22). One gate plate (22) can, with its housing part (19), be slid into a closed or open position by means of a drive element.

  • Patent number: 4709905
Abstract: A casing assembly includes a nozzle brick to form part of a wall of a metallurgical vessel. The nozzle brick has therethrough a conical opening defined by a conical inner surface. A casing to be inserted into the conical opening has a truncated conical shape including a conical outer surface and an axially extending flow through opening. The conical opening and the casing have coaxial center axes, and the conical inner and outer surfaces extend at equal angles of inclination to such axes. The conical inner surface is jacketed with a thin metal shell having a conical shape with the same inclination as that of the conical inner and outer surfaces.
