  • Patent number: 5192512
Abstract: The invention concerns a process and an apparatus for performing chemical reactions under pressure in the presence of a solid catalyst in a multi-stage reaction zone, after external intermediary thermal conditioning. This process may be used for the synthesis of ammonia or methanol or for gasoline reforming. It is characterized in that at least one reaction fluid is introduced into at least one compartment, a first reaction effluent is recovered, a heat exchange takes place, outside the reaction zone, between a first effluent and an external heat exchange medium, then the first effluent is introduced into at least one subsequent compartment and a second reaction effluent is recovered from the subsequent compartment.

Date of Patent: March 9, 1993
    Assignee: Institut Francais du Petrole
Inventors: Dang V. Quang, Pierre Ham, Daniel Gelas, Christian Legrand
  • Patent number: 5073350
Abstract: The invention relates to a means for heating the charge of a catalytic reforming unit operating under low pressure. The invention more particularly relates to an apparatus having in combination a first heat exchanger (6), in which a recycling gas/liquid charge mixture introduced by pipe (5) is completely vaporized, and a second exchanger (9) in which the charge is heated to an adequate temperature by indirect contact with reforming effluent delivered by pipe (17), which successively passes through the two heat exchangers.

Date of Patent: December 17, 1991
    Assignee: Institut Francais du Petrole

  • Patent number: 5034117
Abstract: The invention concerns a regeneration process and the corresponding apparatus for regeneration of a reforming catalyst, the reforming operation being carried out in at least two reactors in series, through which the catalyst and the charge successively flow, the pressure in the first reactor through which the catalyst and the charge pass being under a pressure of between 3 and 8 bars.

  • Patent number: 4849092
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for regenerating a hydrocarbon hydroconversion catalyst containing a carrier, at least one group VIII noble metal and a halogen or halogenated compound. It is characterized by an operation in two regeneration zones (1) and (2). The gas effluent from the first regeneration zone (1) is used to feed the second regeneration zone. During the step of burning coke deposited onto the catalyst in the first zone, the heat amount generated during the combustion is used for preheating the feed of said first zone. The temperature of the effluent of said first zone is reduced, through said exchanger, to a value adapted to perform the burning step in the second zone. Additional air is supplied before introducing the gas into said second zone (2) in order to obtain a suitable oxygen concentration.

  • Patent number: 4172027
Abstract: Catalytic process for reforming or production of aromatic hydrocarbons at a temperature from 480.degree. to 600.degree. C., wherein a charge of hydrocarbons and hydrogen is passed through two reaction zones, of the moving bed type, whose catalyst continuously flows downwardly and is withdrawn at the bottom thereof, is regenerated, treated with hydrogen and then with a sulfur compound, at respective temperatures lower than the reaction temperature, and thereafter fed back continuously to the reaction zone.
