  • Patent number: 5143633
Abstract: This invention relates to superbasic additives for lubricant oils containing an organic molybdenum complex virtually insoluble in hydrocarbons. The complexes are formed with organic compounds such as amines, diamines, alkoxylated amines, glycols and polyols. The additives according to the invention have anti-wear, friction-reducing and antioxidant properties in the lubricant formulations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 18, 1990
Date of Patent: September 1, 1992
    Assignee: Societe Nationale Elf Aquitaine
Inventors: Roger Gallo, Pierre Hoornaert, Jean-Philippe Roman
  • Patent number: 5098587
Abstract: A process is provided for the preparation of an overalkalinized additive for lubricant oils which consists of carbonating a reaction mixture composed of at least one detergent, one derivative of alkaline or alkaline earth metal, at least one nitrogenized and/or oxygenated promoter in a diluent oil and a hydrocarbonated solvent, and wherein the operation is carried out in the presence of at least one boron derivative. Also provided, the additives thus obtained and lubricant compositions containing the additive. These additives are homogeneous and stable, and have very good antiwear properties.

Date of Patent: March 24, 1992
    Assignee: Elf France
Inventors: Pierre Hoornaert, Claude Rey, Roger Gallo, Catherine Belle
  • Patent number: 4834892
Abstract: The present invention relates to additives for lubricating oils having an antirust and antiwear effect, their process of preparation and the lubricating compositions containing the said additives, these additives consisting in a microdispersion in the oil of the metallic salts of amino-acids, wherein the dicarboxylic amino-acids and their derivatives are advantageously used and wherein the salts are generally formed with metals from Groups I and II of the Periodic Classification of Elements.

  • Patent number: 4749499
Abstract: This invention concerns a process for preparing very fluid overbased additives having a high basicity, by contacting an alkaline-earth metal derivative and at least one surfactant with carbon dioxide in a diluent oil and a hydrocarbon-based solvent in the presence of an oxygen-based promoter and a nitrogen-based promoter wherein the carbonation time is comprised between an initial point Po corresponding to the beginning of the temperature plateau of the exothermic reaction and the end point of the carbonation which corresponds to a sudden drop of the alkaline value, the additives according to the invention being utilized in lubricating oils and fuels.

  • Patent number: 4650581
Abstract: The invention concerns an apparatus for separating a phase dispersed by emulsion or by suspension in a continuous phase of different density, comprising a coalescence enclosure 1 provided with an inlet 1a and with an outlet 1b which enters a separation enclosure 4, the coalescence enclosure 1 assuming the shape of an elongated surface of revolution about an axis XX' slanted with respect to the vertical and containing at least one rigid or semi-rigid sheet 7 rolled up about the inclined axis XX' to form windings of which the generatrices extend along the enclosures, these windings being spaced apart and substantially covering all of the free cross-section of the enclosure; this sheet in particular may be rolled up in a spiral and may consist of a material preferentially wetted by the dispersed phase.
