  • Patent number: 11977423
Abstract: Methods and systems for thermal management of hardware resources that may be used to provide computer implemented services are disclosed. The disclosed thermal management method and systems may improve the likelihood of data processing systems providing desired computer implemented services by improving the thermal management of the hardware resources without impairment of storage devices. To improve the likelihood of the computer implemented services being provided, the systems may proactively identify whether storage devices subject to impairment due to dynamic motion are present. If such storage devices are present, then the system may automatically take action to reduce the likelihood of the storage devices being subject to dynamic motion sufficient to impair their operation.

  • Patent number: 7336368
Abstract: An optical detector measuring a movement of an object in a space on a measurement axis comprises a light source, a reflective portion, a detection unit and a converting unit. The light source comprises a resonance chamber, the light source emitting a laser beam toward the object, the laser beam contacting the object and generating a first scattering beam and a reflection beam, wherein a part of the first scattering beam enters the resonance chamber. The reflective portion reflects the reflection beam toward the object, the reflection beam re-contacting the object and generating a second scattering beam and a sub-reflection beam, wherein a part of the second scattering beam and the sub-reflection beam enter the resonance chamber. The detection unit measures an optical-electrical variation in the resonance chamber to generate an electric signal. • Publication number: 20060097138
Abstract: A cursor control method for an electronic device. The electronic device comprises a detecting window and a cursor shown on a monitor. An object is disposed on the detecting window. A laser diode with a laser cavity is provided to generate a plurality of laser beams with different polarization in a plurality of continuous time periods. A first and a second laser beams are guided to the detecting window, to impinge on the object along first and second incident axes, which reflects the first and second laser beams causing them to re-enter the laser cavity. A converting unit converts the electric variation of laser cavity caused by a self-mixing effect and Doppler periods into first and second electric signals to determine the displacement of the cursor.

  • Patent number: 6396016
Abstract: The objective of the invention is to provide a compact and complex electronic component incorporating a rotary encoder capable of exact adjustment and a push switch with a long life-cycle. In order to achieve the objective, the push switch is fixed on a rear wall or a lower surface of the electronic component such that an essential of the push switch, i.e., a dome-shaped member, can be made larger and has longer fatigue life. Moreover, the rotary encoder includes a rotatable member and a resilient member. The rotatable member has a gear-shaped flange and is rotatable circumferentially relative to a central shaft of the rotary encoder. When the rotary encoder rotates, the resilient member, relative to the central shaft, is stationary. The resilient member has a V-shaped portion retained by a surface of the gear-shaped flange of the rotatable member such that the rotary encoder can be exact adjusted.
