  • Publication number: 20120280432
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a bioabsorbable stent and an apparatus for doing the same are disclosed. The method includes providing a polymer resin, melting the polymer resin to form a molten hollow parison, cooling the molten hollow parison to form a hot hollow parison, elongating the hot hollow parison, expanding the hot hollow parison by feeding a compressed gas into the hot hollow parison to form a stent preform, and patterning the stent preform to form a bioabsorbable stent.

  • Patent number: 6087468
Abstract: The disclosure describes reacting a multi-functional phenolic or carboxylic branching agent with a transesterification catalyst to form an organic salt prior to reactive extrusion of said organic salt branching agent with linear polycarbonate resin as a means to dramatically increase the efficiency of the branching agent in the preparation of branched polycarbonate.

  • Patent number: 5948876
Abstract: Branched polycarbonates are prepared by the reaction of a linear or branched polycarbonate with a branching resin having a molecular weight up to about 3,000, typically a novolak or a bisphenol polymer. The reaction preferably takes place in the presence of a carbonate equilibration catalyst such as a quaternary bisphenolate.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5863992
Abstract: Branched polycarbonates having properties suitable for blow molding are prepared by equilibrating a linear or branched aromatic polycarbonate with certain tetraphenols, especially 2,2,5,5-tetrakis (4-hydroxyphenyl)hexane and ?1,1-bis(p-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl!-phenyl ether.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 17, 1996

  • Patent number: 5807912
Abstract: Polycarbonate resins are freed of unreacted residues of the dihydric phenol reactants employed in their preparation by heating the resins in the presence of ortho esters or ortho carbonates.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 31, 1997
Date of Patent: September 15, 1998
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Pin-pin Wu, Farid F. Khouri
  • Patent number: 5521275
Abstract: The efficiency of a redistribution catalyst during polycarbonate redistribution is improved by employing an extruder screw design that provides a melt seal between the extruder throat and the vacuum port. A melt seal exists when the free volume within the extruder is sufficiently filled with molten resin so as to prevent the passage of gases between sections of the extruder.
