  • Patent number: 10228304
Abstract: There is described a shaft shear event detection method. The method comprises storing in memory a shaft oscillation signature determined as a function of known characteristics of the shaft and associated with a shaft shear event; monitoring a rotational speed of the shaft; detecting from the rotational speed an oscillation wave superimposed on the rotational speed, the oscillation wave having a wave modulation frequency and a wave modulation amplitude; comparing the oscillation signature to the oscillation wave; and detecting the shaft shear event when the oscillation wave corresponds to the oscillation signature.

  • Publication number: 20190063331
Abstract: Herein provided are methods and systems for controlling an engine having a variable geometry mechanism. A pressure ratio between a first pressure at an inlet of the engine and a predetermined reference pressure is determined. An output power for the engine is determined. The output power is adjusted based at least in part on the pressure ratio to obtain a corrected output power. A position control signal for a variable geometry mechanism of the engine is generated based on the corrected output power and the pressure ratio. The position control signal is output to a controller of the engine to control the variable geometry mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20180320599
Abstract: Herein provided are methods and systems for detecting an uncommanded or uncontrollable high thrust (UHT) event in an aircraft, comprising arming a UHT function, comparing an engine fan speed to a reference target and detecting a first condition when a first threshold is exceeded, comparing a rate of change of a high pressure rotor speed to a reference deceleration schedule and detecting a second condition when a second threshold is exceeded, detecting a UHT event based on excess thrust when the first condition and the second condition are detected, and accommodating the UHT event.

  • Patent number: 9906201
Abstract: There is described herein a real-time scheme, implementable in software, hardware, or a combination thereof, to detect a resonating frequency of a structure from a sensed signal and dynamically set the center frequency of an adaptive compensator for effective attenuation of the resonating frequency.

  • Patent number: 9261026
Abstract: There is provided a system and method for conditioning a noisy signal. A sensing signal is received during each one of a plurality of successive control cycles, the sensing signal comprising a measurement component indicative of a measurement of at least one engine parameter and a noise component. A curve-fitting technique is applied to the received sensing signal for filtering thereof to attenuate the noise component, the filtering comprising, during a first one of the plurality of the control cycles, asymmetrically filtering the sensing signal received during the first control cycle, thereby generating filtered data, and, during a second control cycle subsequent to the first control cycle, symmetrically filtering the sensing signal received during the first control cycle, thereby generating corrected data.
