  • Patent number: 5525308
Abstract: An exhaust gas purifier arrangement for an internal combustion engine includes a gas adsorber and a catalyzer located downstream from the adsorber in the direction of exhaust gas flow and a burner providing hot burner gases to heat the catalyzer through a burner pipe which traverses the adsorber, and also includes an arrangement for controlling the heat transfer between the burner pipe and the gas adsorber so that heating the adsorber to its desorption temperature is accelerated at low ambient temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4134733
Abstract: A catalytic converter for use in the exhaust line of an internal combustion engine wherein the catalytically active noble metal coating is deposited only on the rearward portion of the inert carrier, with respect to the direction of flow of the exhaust gases, said inert carrier being fully coated with a washcoat capable of absorbing catalyst poisons before application of the catalytically active noble metal coating.

  • Patent number: 4002433
Abstract: A device for catalytic purification of exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine includes a housing and a catalyst carrier mounted within the housing. The device communicates with the exhaust line from the engine so that exhaust gas flows through the catalyst carrier, entering and exiting from the carrier through different ends of the carrier. Disposed within the housing of the device adjacent at least one end of the carrier is a heat shield. The shield protects a wall of the housing against the heat from the exhaust gas flowing through the housing. The heat shield is particularly suitable for a catalytic purification device in which the catalyst carrier is mounted in the housing by an elastic support compressed between the carrier and the housing.
