Date of Patent: December 8, 2009
Assignee: Council of Industrial and Scientific Research
    Inventor: Pradip Nahar
  • Publication number: 20040192842
Abstract: This invention relates to a quick method for preparation of photorcactive polymers and immobilization of biomolecules onto these polymers. Particularly, this invention relates to a microwave-mediated rapid and efficient method for the preparation of photoreactive polymer having at least one photoactivable functional group capable of forming a covalent bond with the biomolecule in a photochemical reaction. Any matrix either organic or inorganic having a nucleophilic group preferably, amino, hydroxyl or thiol group can be modified by the invented method. Immobilization of biomolecules onto the photoreactive polymers was carried out by UV radiation. The method has applications for inmmobilization of bio-molecules irrespective of their functional groups in the fields of molecular biology, proteomics, genomics, diagnostics, chemical or biochemical industry and other related fields.

  • Publication number: 20040191831
Abstract: This invention relates to a rapid and efficient method for carrying out enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for detection of minute quantities of biomolecules such as antigen, antibody etc. This invention particularly relates to heat-mediated immobilization of antigen or antibody on to the activated surface followed by performing subsequent steps of ELUSA by controlled temperature. The invented procedure has reduced the total time required for ELISA to around 3 h.

  • Publication number: 20030228410
Abstract: This invention relates to a rapid and efficient process for the preparation of activated polymer surfaces capable of forming a covalent bond with the biomolecule. More particularly, this invention relates to a rapid and efficient photochemical process for the preparation of a activated polymer surfaces having at least one active functional group capable of forming a covalent bond with the biomolecule. More particularly, activated polymer surface is prepared by photochemical reaction of 1-fluoro-2-nitro-4-azidobenzene with the polymer surface. Any polymer having a carbon-hydrogen bond can be activated by the invented method. The activated surface prepared by this process is capable of immunobilizing biomolecule more particularly protein ligand covalently, required for different applications.

  • Patent number: 6498016
Abstract: This invention relates to a rapid and efficient method for carrying out enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for detection of minute quantities of biomolecules such as antigen, antibody etc. This invention particularly relates to microwave mediated immobilization of antigen or antibody on to the activated surface followed by performing subsequent steps of ELISA by controlled microwave irradiation. The invented procedure has dramatically reduced the total time required for ELISA to less than 10 minutes from hours to days. The invented ELISA procedure is rapid, economical, reproducible and simple and can be automated. The invented procedure is useful for carrying out ELISA in clinical diagnostics, molecular biology, agriculture, sericulture, food technology, environmental science, biomedical research and other related fields.
