  • Patent number: 9139732
Abstract: A polymer composition having improved processing properties, in particular improved crystallization behavior, comprising a semi-aromatic polyamide and a graphene material. The graphene material may be a nano-graphene platelet. The semi-aromatic polyamide may comprise recurring units obtainable by a polycondensation reaction between at least one aromatic diamine and at least one non-aromatic diacid or derivatives thereof and/or recurring units obtainable by a polycondensation reaction between at least one aromatic diacid or derivatives thereof and at least one non-aromatic diamine. The composition may further comprise a polyamide different than the semi-aromatic polyamide. The composition may further comprise a filler.

  • Publication number: 20130310511
Abstract: A mixture comprising at least one polymer and from 0.1 wt % to 1.5 wt %, based on the weight of the polymer, of at least one fumed silica, wherein the polymer comprises at least one semi-aromatic polyamide in an amount of more than 50 wt %, based on the weight of the polymer. The presence of the fumed silica in the semi-aromatic polyamide-based mixture allows notably for reducing the cycle time necessary for the manufacture of various shaped articles, such as mobile phone housings, by melt processing methods like injection molding.

  • Patent number: 7312282
Abstract: Processes for preparing block copolymers and the block copolymers prepared therefrom comprising at least two types of homoblock, all belonging to the polysulfone family, wherein each of the said homoblocks has an identical or different molecular weight of at least 1000 and comprises at least 5% of the overall weight of the block copolymer, and wherein the block copolymer has a molecular weight of at least 2000, the process steps comprising preparing each of the aforesaid homoblocks by reacting at least one aromatic diol with at least one aromatic dihalo compound, one of which contains at least one sulfone group, in at least one aprotic solvent in the presence of at least one alkali, optionally in the presence of an azeotropic agent and then reacting the aforesaid homoblocks together in at least an aprotic solvent, optionally followed by end-capping said block copolymer.

  • Patent number: 6881816
Abstract: A melt processible Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) polymer with novel end-group structure is synthesized electrophilically using Methane Sulfonic Acid containing Methane Sulfonic Anhydride or Phosphorous Pentoxide. The product so obtained shows controlled structure with elimination of reactive end group like —COOH and is therefore melt processible by conventional techniques and exhibits high thermal and mechanical properties making it useful high temperature engineering and specialty plastics. It can be extruded into a rod, film and can also be molded into commercially useful products.

  • Patent number: 4108749
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for the preparation of a graft copolymer comprising a PVC backbone and graft branches formed from cationically polymerizable monomers such as styrene, isoprene, butadiene and in particular, isobutylene. The process includes the steps of irradiating the PVC resin to form reactive sites thereon, dissolving the irradiated resin in a suitable solvent, adding a monomeric charge of isobutylene and a catalytic amount of an alkylaluminum compound to polymerize a plurality of polyisobutylene branches from the reactive sites, subsequently terminating the reaction and separating the graft copolymer.
