  • Patent number: 9568017
Abstract: A centrifugal blower assembly including a ring-shaped planar portion and a sloped guide surface. The ring-shaped planar portion defines a central aperture at which a centrifugal fan is seated. The ring-shaped planar portion is elevated relative to a lower surface of a scroll casing. The sloped guide surface is between the ring-shaped planar portion and the lower surface of the scroll casing. The sloped guide surface slopes towards the lower surface, and extends in a downstream direction towards a partition of the scroll casing at a scroll starting position of the scroll casing.

  • Publication number: 20160265823
Abstract: A noise reduction insert for an evaporator. The noise reduction insert includes a body defining an inner volume of the insert. The body extends along a longitudinal axis of the insert. A perforated portion of the body defines a plurality of openings configured to allow fluid to pass out from within the inner volume through the plurality of openings. A flange at a first end of the body is opposite to a second end of the body. The flange defines an aperture through which the longitudinal axis extends. The aperture is configured to permit fluid to flow therethrough and into the inner volume defined by the body.

  • Publication number: 20150071793
Abstract: The present disclosure provides for a serviceable fan shroud motor support structure which provides a means to repair or replace individual components of the vehicle cooling module such as the fan motor or fan blades, without removing and dismantling the entire vehicle cooling module. The fan shroud motor support structure includes at least one removable spoke, which once removed, would provide access to the portion of the fan assembly requiring service or replacement. Once the repair or replacement is complete, they simply snap the previously removed spokes back into place in order to complete the repair.

  • Patent number: 8384528
Abstract: An apparatus and method for customizing the sound emitted from an automotive vehicle during operation. Specifically, the vehicle operator uses a controller to vary the sound emitted from the engine exhaust and intake or engine compartment sounds during vehicle operation. In addition, the operator can control the sound level, sound type and sound aspect in the vehicle interior or passenger compartment and the vehicle exterior. Further, the apparatus uses an active sound control system, such as those using microphones and speakers, to customize and/or tune the sound emanating from the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8029344
Abstract: A motor vehicle climate control system that utilizes a door to selectively open and close an inlet formed in a housing of the climate control system. The housing includes a wall having a seal surface. The seal surface is spaced outwardly from an inner surface of the wall. A seal member, typically attached to the door used to open and close the inlet, contacts the seal surface when the door is placed in a position to close the inlet.

  • Patent number: 7520804
Abstract: A HVAC system for reducing the level of air rush and blower noise escaping into the interior of the vehicle when the HVAC system is operating in the recirculation mode. The HVAC system includes a recirculation door having an acoustically transparent portion that enables a component of the air rush and blower noise to pass through the recirculation door to the vehicle exterior instead of entering the vehicle cabin or interior through the recirculation air inlet.

  • Publication number: 20070281600
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing noise levels occurring at a particular frequency in an air distribution apparatus used with an automotive vehicle having an interior compartment. The apparatus includes a noise reduction structure located in the air duct between an inlet end connected to a housing and a discharge end located in the vehicle interior compartment. The noise reduction structure is located a position spaced between the housing and the interior compartment of the automotive vehicle. The particular position of the noise reduction structure is determined based on the frequency of the noise level sought to be reduced. The method includes measuring the frequency of the noise level emitted from the discharge end of the air duct and correspondingly positioning the noise reduction structure at a spacing or distance based on the measured frequency.
