  • Publication number: 20240082047
Abstract: Examples relate to devices, systems, and methods for fluid collection such as urine. The fluid collection device includes a tubular shaft and a receptacle. The tubular shaft has an open end and an inner surface and is adjustable between a first configuration having a first inner circumference sized to receive at least a portion of a penis within the tubular shaft and a second configuration having a second inner circumference smaller than the first inner circumference and sized to contact the penis with the inner surface. The receptacle is connected to the adjustable tubular shaft distal to the open end, and is configured to collect urine discharged from the penis when the penis is positioned within the tubular shaft.

  • Publication number: 20230049924
Abstract: An example fluid collection assembly includes a fluid collection assembly defining an opening. The fluid collection assembly includes a fluid impermeable barrier defining at least a portion of a chamber and at least one porous material disposed in the chamber. The opening and the chamber of the fluid collection assembly are configured to receive at least a portion of a penis (e.g., at least the urethral opening of the penis). The fluid collection assembly also includes a skirt. The skirt is configured to attach the fluid collection assembly to an individual. To facilitate attachment to the individual, the skirt may exhibit a high flexibility. The high flexibility allows the skirt to be comfortably attached to the skin about the penis even when the size and/or topography of the skin about the penis varies and/or changes due to movement of the individual.

  • Publication number: 20230009148
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to an anti-microbial coated urethral plug to reduce catheter associated urinary tract infections (“CAUTI”). A urethral plug is configured to engage a urinary catheter and includes a plug body defining a frustum shape, a lumen configured to receive the urinary catheter, and a slit extending longitudinally and extending from the lumen to a side surface of the plug body. The plug can further include one of a textured surface and a coating disposed on an outer surface and configured to mitigate microbial adhesion. A distal portion of the plug is configured to fit within a urethral opening to create a seal between the side surface of the plug body and the urethral opening. The urethral plug includes coatings, textured surfaces, or the like, and provides protection against the extra-luminal migration of microbes that may cause CAUTI.

  • Publication number: 20220257407
Abstract: Examples relate to devices, systems, and methods for fluid collection such as urine. The fluid collection device is shaped to complement the female anatomy or male anatomy near the urethra. The fluid impermeable coating of the fluid collection device is sized and shaped to provide a soft, smooth, and compliant outer surface for the fluid collection device. The fluid collection device may be coupled to a vacuum source via one or more sections of conduit.

  • Publication number: 20220226144
Abstract: Example fluid collection devices and methods of assembling the fluid collection devices are described. The fluid collection devices include a fluid impermeable barrier and a fluid permeable body. The fluid impermeable barrier has a shore A durometer hardness of less than about (15). The fluid impermeable barrier at least partially defines a chamber and an opening extending therethrough that is configured to be positioned adjacent to a urethra of a subject. The fluid permeable body is positioned at least partially within the chamber to extend across at least a portion of the opening and configured to wick fluid away from the opening.

  • Publication number: 20220218510
Abstract: An example urinary collection device includes a fluid impermeable barrier defining a chamber, an opening, and an outlet. The opening and the outlet fluid to enter and leave the chamber, respectively. The urinary collection device also includes a fluid permeable membrane extending across the opening. The urinary collection device includes a fluid receiving portion that includes the portions of the fluid impermeable barrier that defines the opening. The fluid receiving portion is configured to be positioned such that the opening is disposed adjacent to the urethral opening of the individual (e.g., a buried penis). The urinary collection device also includes an longitudinal portion extending from the fluid receiving portion. The longitudinal portion is configured to be positioned adjacent to or near the perineum of the individual (e.g., positioned between the thighs of the individual).

  • Publication number: 20210177643
Abstract: External catheters, external catheter-related components, external-catheter kits with step-by-step instructions, and methods thereof providing a standardized system for application and management of such catheters. In one embodiment, an external-catheter kit can include one or more external catheters, a cleansing kit, and step-by-step instructions for using the external-catheter kit. The cleansing kit can include one or more individually wrapped towelettes for at least anatomical cleansing before application of any external catheter of the one or more external catheters. The step-by-step instructions for using the external-catheter kit can include step-by-step instructions for the anatomical cleansing, external-catheter application, and external-catheter management subsequent to the external-catheter application. The one or more external catheters can be selected from male external catheters and female external catheters.

  • Patent number: 9826806
Abstract: In accordance with one or more embodiments and corresponding disclosure, various non-limiting systems, devices, and methods are described in connection with an assistive support device that provides feedback to a user. In an aspect, disclosed is a system comprising, a first sensor component that generates a first set of sensor data based on a first set of force applied to an assistive support device. The system also comprises a data repository component that stores a first set of sensor data provided by the assistive support device. Furthermore, in an aspect, the system comprises a feedback component that employs a feedback mechanism based on an occurrence of a value of an applied force to the assistive support device of the first set of force applied being greater than or less than a threshold value of an applied force.
