  • Patent number: 4750002
Abstract: An apparatus providing a post-fabrication shapable antenna reflector panel. Several such shapable antenna reflector panels can be arranged to form a complete antenna reflector. Each panel includes a panel skin and a rigid frame member, with adjustable supports interposed therebetween. The adjustable supports, which are rods having a threaded portion with lock nuts threadably engaged thereon, are attached to the back side of the panel skin and placed within holes in the frame. With one lock nut located above and another located below the frame holes, the panel skin can be held securely in position by urging each lock nut against the frame. The panel skin can also be adjusted by appropriately releasing, moving, and then retightening the lock nuts. The adjustable supports are arranged in a matrix pattern so that the shape of the panel skin can be adjusted in a uniform manner.

  • Patent number: 4374298
Abstract: A gas-insulated transmission line includes an outer sheath, an inner conductor, an insulating gas electrically insulating the inner conductor from the outer sheath, and insulating supports insulatably supporting the inner conductor within the outer sheath. The inner conductor is provided with flexibility by the use of main conductor sections which are joined together through a conductor hub section and flexible flexing elements. Stress shields are provided to control the electric field at the locations of the conductor hub sections where the insulating supports are contacting the inner conductor. The flexing elements are formed by sandwiching together, by fusing, a pair of thin hollow discs which are fixedly secured to both the main conductor sections and the conductor hub section.

A plug and socket arrangement is utilized for joining adjacent sections of the inner conductor, and a protection tube is utilized inside the hollow plug to maintain proper alignment of the joint when the transmission line is bent.
