  • Patent number: 10715233
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses relate to sounding reference signal (SRS) transmit antenna selection in wireless communication systems. For example, a user equipment (UE) may select, from a set of antennas, a subset of antennas for SRS transmission based on at least one antenna selection parameter. • Patent number: 10263669
Abstract: In order to balance the power requirements of a MIMO receiver with the gains that may be achieved through its use, an apparatus determines whether a current configuration of the UE supports iterative MIMO reception. When it is determined that the current configuration of the UE supports iterative MIMO reception, the apparatus determines whether at least one parameter of the received signal is within a corresponding target condition, respectively, for each of the at least one parameters, e.g., including determining whether a scheduling percentage meets a scheduling threshold and whether an error rate is within an error rate range. When both the configuration supports iterative MIMO reception and the signal parameter(s) meet the corresponding target condition(s), the apparatus uses the iterative MIMO receiver. If not, the apparatus uses a serial receiver.

  • Patent number: 9531483
Abstract: UEs are adapted to facilitate calculation of signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) estimates in closed-loop transmission diversity (CLTD) communications before downlink and uplink synchronization is achieved. A UE may receive a transmission sent using transmission diversity. According to one example, the UE may calculate a plurality of signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) estimates for the received transmission, where each signal-to-interference ratio estimate is calculated using a different weight factor. The UE may further select one of the calculated signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) estimates to be employed for the received transmission. According to another example, the UE may calculate a signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) estimate for the received transmission without employing any weight factor. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

  • Patent number: 9143964
Abstract: UEs are adapted to facilitate detection and handling of deconstructive impacts of default weight factors employed before downlink and uplink synchronization is achieved in closed-loop transmission diversity communications. According to one example, a UE may receive transmissions sent using a default weight factor for transmission diversity. The UE may determine whether the default weight factor is causing a deconstructive impact on signal-to-interference ratio estimates for the received transmissions. When it is determined that the default weight factor is causing the deconstructive impact on the signal-to-interference ratio estimates for the received transmissions, the UE may employ an alternate closed-loop transmission diversity (CLTD) mode. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

  • Patent number: 9112634
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which PAPR for an input of an AGC in a wireless receiver is generated. The AGC may provide a gain-controlled signal to a correlator when the PAPR of the input does not exceed the threshold ratio and may clamp the gain of the gain-controlled signal when PAPR of the input is large. A large PAPR may cause termination of search for a signal of interest in a current channel. The search may be resumed in a non-adjacent channel.

  • Patent number: 9036526
Abstract: The present disclosure presents a method and apparatus for reducing power consumption during a voice communication in a user equipment (UE). For example, the method may include receiving a plurality of frames associated with the voice communication. Further, such an example method may include determining whether a frame pattern based at least on the received plurality of frames corresponds to a transition from a speech burst period to a non-speech period, and disabling a portion of a receiver subsystem at the UE for at least a portion of a frame associated with the non-speech period. As such, the power consumption in a UE may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 8923171
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for reducing UE's power consumption by controlling early decoding boundary. In one aspect, a UE is configured to receive a data or voice frame from a base station. The UE selects one or more quality metrics for determining decoding boundary of the received frame and computes the selected one or more quality metrics. The UE then determines a decoding boundary for the frame based on one or more computed quality metrics. The UE then decodes the received frames at the determined decoding boundary and determines whether the decoding of the frame was successful. If the early decoding of the frame was successful, the UE may terminate reception of the frame. If the early decoding of the frame was unsuccessful, the UE may adjust the decoding boundary and decodes the frame at the adjusted boundary.
