  • Publication number: 20160050577
Abstract: To address the problem of inter-cell interference in a heterogeneous network, several methods and systems are disclosed for determining interference caused by an aggressor mobile node, and transmitting at appropriate times and with transmit power that does not cause interference. Methods disclosed include using X2 communications, such as HII and RNTP messages, switching to an alternative radio access technology, sniffing at the eNodeB to obtain information, coordinating with a cloud coordination server, and using CFI information to avoid interfering with communications on the PDCCH.

  • Publication number: 20150257051
Abstract: A gateway for X2 interface communication is provided, including: an X2 internal interface for communicating with, and coupled to, a plurality of radio access networks (RANs); and an X2 external interface for communicating with, and coupled to, a destination outside of the plurality of RANs, the X2 external interface further including a single X2 endpoint for the plurality of radio access networks, such that the X2 external interface provides a single interface for an external macro cell or core network to interact with the plurality of radio access networks. The gateway may further include a handover module for maintaining X2 signaling associations and transactions for incoming and outbound handovers, including X2 to S1 and S1 to X2 translation.

  • Publication number: 20150098385
Abstract: A system is disclosed for providing multicast services to mobile devices, comprising a first network node providing a radio access network to a mobile device; a second network node coupled to the first network node and providing backhaul routing for the first network node; a controller node, coupled to both the first and the second network node and to a multicast packet gateway, wherein the controller node provides a virtualized interface of a single network node to the multicast packet gateway, thereby virtualizing the first and second network nodes to the multicast packet gateway such that the multicast packet gateway may be enabled to send a multicast data stream to the first and the second network nodes via the controller node.

  • Publication number: 20150094114
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for adjusting transmit power in a wireless network. In one embodiment, a method is disclosed that includes identifying a selected base station with a first coverage area for adjustment of transmit power; identifying a plurality of neighboring base stations with coverage areas nearby the first coverage area; retrieving a plurality of signal strength measurements from a plurality of mobile devices within the coverage areas of the plurality of neighboring base stations; determining, based on the plurality of measurements, an effect on the plurality of mobile devices within the coverage areas of the plurality of neighboring base stations; and sending an instruction for adjustment of transmit power to the selected base station.

  • Publication number: 20150078167
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for enabling a mesh network node to switch from a base station role to a user equipment role relative to a second mesh network node, and vice versa. By switching roles in this manner, the mesh network node may be able to benefit from increased uplink or downlink speed in the new role. This role reversal technique is particularly useful when using wireless protocols such as LTE that are asymmetric and allow differing throughput on uplink and downlink connections. Methods for determining whether to perform role reversal are disclosed, and methods for using role reversal in mesh networks comprising greater than two nodes are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8909278
Abstract: A home base station receives signal to interference and noise ratio data from at least one access terminal, determines whether a transmission power of the home base station should be adjusted based on the received signal to interference and noise ratio data, and then adaptively adjusts the transmission power of the home base station based on the received signal to interference and noise ratio data.

  • Publication number: 20050094656
Abstract: A method is provided to derive a valid transport format combination (TFC) indicator (TFCI) in a wireless communication system wherein a set of transport channels are multiplexed a composite channel. Each transport channel is checked for whether data is expected on the transport channel and monitored for received data. Candidate TFCs not having a matching transport format indicator for the current transport channel are eliminated from a candidate TFC set. The TFCI is identified according to a single remaining candidate TFC of the candidate TFC set.
