  • Publication number: 20180324975
Abstract: A mounting assembly is for an electrical switch. The electrical switch has a heat sink. The mounting assembly includes a switching member, an insulator structured to be located between the switching member and the heat sink, and a separate cover member overlaying the switching member and being structured to secure the switching member and the insulator to the heat sink. The separate cover member includes a body portion and a plurality of protrusions extending outwardly from the body portion. The plurality of protrusions includes a first protrusion and a second protrusion. The switching member is located between the first protrusion and the second protrusion. The plurality of protrusions are structured to extend through the heat sink in order to removably couple the separate cover member and the switching member to the heat sink without requiring a separate fastener to be inserted through the separate cover member.

  • Publication number: 20130188298
Abstract: This disclosure describes examples of an apparatus to enclose components of a switching assembly of an automatic transfer switch. In one embodiment, the apparatus, or arc chamber cover, has a housing made of material with optical properties that permit observation of the interior of the housing. A mounting assembly couples to the housing. The mounting assembly secures the apparatus to the automatic transfer switch. In one example, the mounting assembly comprises feet comprising a material with mechanical properties that can withstand pressure and other forces inside of the interior chamber. The apparatus also includes one or more baffles to control the flow of gasses and control electric arcs within the switching assembly.

  • Patent number: 8249837
Abstract: A method for determining an optimized structure for skin stretch form blocks. An optimized stretch form block design is generated by performing a finite element analysis on a stretch form block design selected from a target group of the stretch form blocks which have been classified into a plurality of groups based on similar topology of the blocks. The finite element analysis includes specifying a suggested design and generating the optimized stretch form block design by iteratively modifying the suggested design until the suggested design has a predetermined sufficient structural strength. An interpolation model is generated from the optimized stretch form block design, and an optimized stretch form block structure is determined for any stretch form block having size and weight parameters within an envelope defined by the target group of the stretch form blocks, by performing a weighted nearest neighbor interpolation using specified geometric parameters and material parameters.

  • Patent number: 7933679
Abstract: A method for optimizing machining parameters for a cutting process performed on a work piece. Finite element analysis of cutting tool and work material interaction is initially performed. Mechanistic modeling of the cutting process, using results of the finite element analysis, is then performed to provide optimized machining parameters for improved rate of material removal and tool life. Optionally, a two-stage artificial neural network may be supplementally employed, wherein a first stage of the network provides output parameters including peak tool temperature and cutting forces in X and Y directions, for a combination of input reference parameters including tool rake angle, material cutting speed, and feed rate.
