Abstract: Access to a provider's restricted resources for users who are not directly associated with the provider but who are permitted to access the restricted resources based on the users' affiliation with a third-party subscriber is provided. An example affiliation is a university student's (user's) affiliation with a university (third-party subscriber). A user's identity can be authenticated by the third party, and the user's access entitlements can be authorized by the third party based on the third party's authorization policies and by an authorized distributor of the restricted resources of which the third party is a subscriber based on the distributor's authorization policies. An access decision is made by a policy enforcement service based on the authorization access decisions made by the third party and by the authorized distributor. The provider allows the user access to its otherwise restricted resources based on a permit decision made by the policy enforcement service.

Abstract: A transportation network system that provides machine intelligence relating to at least one road and a periphery of the at least one road includes: a plurality of sensors for identifying static and moving objects on the at least one road, spatial dimensions of the objects with respect to the at least one road, and an environment around the objects, the sensors being configured to translate and store the identified objects, spatial dimensions, and environment as machine readable data; a plurality of communication devices and transmitters for transmitting the machine readable data between the plurality of sensors and to remote computer cloud systems; and a computer cloud system for receiving the machine readable data from the plurality of communication devices and to store the machine readable data, the computer cloud creating machine intelligence based on the machine readable data, the computer cloud system including an application programming interface.

Abstract: Securing access to content provided over a distributed network is provided. A user desiring content from a given content source may provide login credentials via a downloaded content source application that will be used to authenticate the requesting user's access to the requested content item via a content services provider. When the access request is received, the content source application passes to the content services provider login/authentication credentials, location information and access attempt frequency information. If the location information and/or access attempt frequency information for the requesting user and/or user device raises suspicion that the requested access may be unauthorized, an automated notification can be passed to a primary services account holder associated with an account through which the requested content is received to request permission or denial from the primary account holder to allow the requested content access.

Abstract: A cable television system with integrated social streaming. The cable television system with integrated social streaming includes a set-top box in communication with a camera and/or a microphone that allows video and/or audio communication over a social streaming channel offered by the cable provider. The cable television system with integrated social streaming provides an interactive experience for a set-top box user by allowing the user to participate in video and/or audio conversations with friends on supported social streaming services.

Abstract: A method of customizing a device in accordance with the company for whom the device-user works and in accordance with the job held by the user at the company. A provisioning system receives a request to provision (e.g., activate) a device and responsively determines the company at which the device-user works and the job held by the user at the company. The provisioning system then establishes customization-data usable by the device to become customized in a manner corresponding with the company and job, and the provisioning system sends the customization-data to the device to cause the device to become customized accordingly. This process can be applied to automatically customize a device so as to adopt a base user-interface, functionality, and reference data that is all related to the company at which the device-user works and that is tailored in a manner appropriate to the user's job at the company.

Abstract: Certain embodiments herein may be directed to push notifications for location-based content delivery. Many merchants use coupon printers to print post-purchase coupons. The systems and methods described herein are directed to generating incentives, such as coupons or loyalty points which may be based at least in part on purchases, the current location of the user in proximity to items or stores, and associating the incentives to a user profile associated with the user. The incentives may then later be retrieved by a point of sale (POS) system of a merchant and then applied to any future purchase transactions the customer may desire.

Abstract: Example embodiments of systems and methods of a virtual marketplace for reward/loyalty points disclosed herein may use geo-fencing to create a marketplace of reward points. The disclosed embodiments may use geo-fencing, coupons, and reward points to draw customers to a target location. Reward points are typically specific to and redeemable at the target location. A customer may use a mobile application to receive location based coupons that are laden with reward points. For example, a customer is walking past a retailer, such as non-limiting examples of a restaurant, a drug store, a grocery store, a department store, and a gas station, among others. In an example embodiment, she carries a location determination device which notifies the system of her geographic location or that her location is within a predetermined distance from a predetermined location.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for improving user navigation of a multi-page article on a small screen user device. In embodiments, as a user progresses through the multi-page article, pages and/or lines of text of the multi-page article are cached. In response to a user request to view the multi-page article in a full-page format, the cached content is compared against text of the full-page document and used to determine a presentation of the text that displays nonduplicative content to the user.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and methods related to location-based content delivery. Data from one or more indoor position system (IPS) beacons may be received. A location for a user device may be determined based at least in part on the received data. Content, such as advertisements, may be retrieved based at least in part on the location of the user device. A notification generated based at least in part on the content may be transmitted to the user device.

Abstract: One or more computer readable media, that enable a method for remotely activating one or more communication-forwarding functions for a mobile-communication device are provided. The present invention allows a forwarding service operated by a provider of mobile communication services and a forwarding application that runs on a mobile communication device to be remotely activated by a user that does not have possession of the mobile communication device. The mobile communication device receives an activation message with instructions to automatically activate a communication-forwarding function. In response to the activation message the mobile communication device activates the requested communication-forwarding function in conformity with the instructions in the activation message. The activation message is generated and sent by an activation-message generator.

Abstract: Systems, products, and methods are disclosed for helping to ensure that an alarm of a mobile communications device is activated when desired. An illustrative method includes receiving an indication of a desired time that the alarm is intended to be activated, determining a power level of a power source that is powering the mobile communications device, determining whether the power level will provide sufficient power to the mobile communications device to enable it to activate the alarm at the desired time and, if so, then enabling the alarm to be set. Further, the power source could be monitored as the alarm-activation time approaches so that if variables change that might prevent the alarm from activating, then changes or preventive measures can be taken.

Abstract: A method and system for wireless access provider management of digital rights. A wireless carrier receives a content request transmitted from a given wireless client station. The carrier determines by reference to digital rights management data that the requested content is premium content and then determines if the requesting party has the right to obtain the content. If the party does not have the right to obtain the content, the wireless carrier may engage in a payment collection process, to collect the party's payment for the content. Upon determination that the requesting party has the right to obtain the content, the wireless carrier inserts an access-token into the content request and sends the content request, with the access-token, to the content provider. The content provider can then rely on the access-token as proof that the requesting party has the right to obtain the requested content.
