    Abstract: Novel polyketanil-based compositions for use as a laser-releasable composition for temporary bonding and laser debonding processes are provided. The inventive compositions can be debonded using various UV lasers, at wavelengths from about 300 nm to about 360 nm, leaving behind little to no debris. The layers formed from these compositions possess good thermal stabilities and are resistant to common solvents used in semiconductor processing. The compositions can also be used as build-up layers for redistribution layer formation.

    Abstract: The present application provides a high-nickel ternary positive electrode active material, which comprises a core Li1+a[LixCoyMnzMb]O2, a fast ionic conductor Li?AlXSiYO4 of a first shell layer, an oxide of an element R of a second shell layer, and a transition layer LipRqOw formed between the first shell layer and the second shell layer. In the high-nickel ternary positive electrode active material of the present application, the surface impurity lithium amount is significantly reduced, and by creatively converting the surface impurity lithium into effective components in the fast ionic conductors Li?AlXSiYO4 and LipRqOw which accelerate the intercalation/deintercalation of lithium ions in the core material, the decomposition and gas production of an electrolyte solution caused by the surface impurity lithium is greatly improved, such that a high-nickel ternary lithium-ion battery has high energy density as well as good cycle performance and safety performance.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for removing coatings from optical fibers. A system includes a gas source for providing gas, and a heater configured to heat the gas. The system further includes a holder comprising first and second attachment features, wherein the attachment features secure a coated optical fiber along a removal path. The system further includes at least one nozzle connected to the gas source, wherein the at least on nozzle is aimed in a nozzle direction that is towards the removal path at a pitch, such that the nozzle is non-perpendicular towards the removal path. The nozzle further directs a continuous stream of the heated gas towards the coated optical fiber causing the coating of the coated optical fiber to be removed. The methods and systems may employ a second nozzle that may be offset from the first nozzle angularly and/or laterally with respect to the removal path.

    Abstract: A method for protecting fusion spliced optical fibers includes immersing sections of fusion spliced first and second optical fibers in a pool of molten thermoplastic material, followed by removal and cooling of liquid-coated areas, to yield a solid thermoplastic overcoating that extends over a splice joint as well as previously stripped sections and pre-coated sections of the first and second optical fibers. Optionally, a strength member may be adhered to the solid thermoplastic overcoating to provide a reinforced fusion spliced section. A strength member may include a metal rod or a secondary, thick thermoplastic coating. A fiber optic cable assembly includes a solid thermoplastic overcoating that extends over the splice joint as well as previously stripped sections and pre-coated sections of the fibers.
