Patent number: 11924640Abstract: Techniques for establishing a data connection are described. In an example, a computer system receives, from a second device of a computer network, first data associated with a first device and second data associated with the second device. The first device is not connected to the computer network. The computer system determines third data generated by one or more devices other than the first device and the second device and associated with at least one of: the first device, the second device, a user account, or the computer network. The computer system generates, based on the first data, the second data, and the third data, a confidence score indicating a likelihood of a user authorization to connect the first device to the computer network. The computer system sends, to the second device based on the confidence score, instructions associated with connecting the first device to the computer network.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2023Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Quentin N Robinson, Abraham Martin Passaglia, Rashmesh Radhakrishnan, Andrew Roths

Patent number: 11871471Abstract: Techniques for a server-based reconnection of disconnected devices in a network are described. In an example, a computer system receives, from a second device, first data of a first device. The first data indicates that the first device has disconnected from the network due a change in the password of the network. The computer system determines that the first device is authorized to connect to the network. Based on the first device being authorized, the computer system transmits a request for a token. The computer system compares the token to a token stored by the computer system. In response to the tokens matching, the computer system transmits second data to the first device via the second device. The second data includes an updated password of the network. The first device uses the second data to reestablish a connection with the network.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2022Date of Patent: January 9, 2024Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Quentin N. Robinson, Rashmesh Radhakrishnan, Abraham Martin Passaglia, Andrew Roths

Patent number: 11671829Abstract: Techniques for a server-based association of a device with a user account are described. In an example, a computer system receives, from a second device, first data of a first device. The first data indicates a request for a first association between the first device and a user account. The computer system determines that the first data is valid based on second data associated with the first device. Based on the first data being valid, the computer system sends, to the second device, third data to initiate a user authentication. The computer system then receives, from the second device, a user identifier based on the user authentication and determines that a second association between the user identifier and the user account already exists. The computer system causes the first association between the first device and the user account to be generated based on the second association.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2019Date of Patent: June 6, 2023Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Rashmesh Radhakrishnan, Abraham Martin Passaglia, Quentin N. Patent number: 11575759Abstract: Techniques for connecting computing devices to a network are described. For example, a computer system receives, from a second device that is associated with an account and connected to a data network, first data indicating an identifier of a first device. The computer system determines that the identifier is unassociated with accounts that include the account. The computer system determines second data associated with the identifier, access to the account, or a device setup request. The computer system determines that the first device is to be associated with the account. The computer system sends, to a third device, third data that causes the third device to output a confirmation request about setting up the first device and receives, from the third device, fourth data indicating a response to the confirmation request. The computer system associates the first device with the account based on the fourth data.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2021Date of Patent: February 7, 2023Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Quentin N. Patent number: 10592088Abstract: A wearable device receives user configuration data that provides user-specific information for stored use cases and generates a personalized use case database based on the stored use cases and the user-specific information. The wearable device obtains location, sensor, time, and peripheral state data and detects a meaningful change in a most recent data instance of the location, sensor, time, or peripheral state data over an earlier data instance of the location, sensor, time, and peripheral state data. The wearable device determines if the most recent data instance corresponds to a particular use case in the personalized use case database; presents on a display a new home-screen experience, including multiple application user interfaces for the particular use case, when the most recent data instance corresponds to the particular use case; and changes a hardware state to enable use of the multiple application user interfaces in the new home-screen experience.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2019Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Quentin N. Patent number: 10431878Abstract: Techniques described herein may be used to implement a 4G antenna in a wearable device (e.g., a watch) in a manner that optimizes the ability of the antenna to send and receive radio signals while minimizing the user's exposure to radio signals. The antenna may be raised above a base portion and a printed circuit board (PCB) of the wearable device to limit radio signals being absorbed by the user's body, in addition to providing a vertical space between conductive components (such as the PCB), metal nodes to which the PCB is attached, etc.) that might otherwise interfere with radio signals to and from the antenna. The antenna may also be split into two different portions (a first portion and a second portion) in order to limit radio signals from resonating in the antenna for longer than is beneficial.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2016Date of Patent: October 1, 2019Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Quentin N.
