  • Patent number: 7140760
Abstract: The subject invention relates to automotive lighting assemblies. Specifically, the subject invention relates to a device and method for retaining wires, which provide power to the light source, in the proper orientation. In an exemplary embodiment, a wire retaining cavity is formed by a molded rib on a cover and a molded retention feature with a hook portion on a light source retaining compartment. In this exemplary embodiment, the cover and retaining compartment are integrally connected to one another by a living hinge. The wire retaining cavity is formed once the cover is folded over the retaining cavity bringing the rib into close proximity of the wire retention feature and adjacent to the hook portion of the feature.

  • Patent number: 6951412
Abstract: The present invention comprises a pivot stud with an axis of rotation in the horizontal plane for use within a visual optical aim light assembly. The axis of rotation of the pivot stud defines an axis of rotation about which the light assembly may be rotated so as to properly aim the visual optical aim light assembly. The pivot stub does not allow rotation about planes other than the horizontal plane. According to one embodiment, the pivot stud comprises a ball and socket of a generally ellipsoid shape.

  • Patent number: 6811285
Abstract: Disclosed is a means and method for attaching an automotive lighting lens to the housing of an automotive lighting assembly while a structural adhesive cures. An automotive lighting assembly has a recessed hollow portion dimensioned to enclose one or more light fixtures and an open end with a peripheral edge. Formed around the periphery of the housing is a sealing groove and a plurality of engaging openings adjacent the groove. The engaging openings have a plurality of protuberances projecting into the opening, the protuberances providing a reduced area of clearance within the engaging opening. A covering lens has an exterior edge and a flange dimensioned to extend into and mate with the sealing groove formed around the edge of the lens.

  • Patent number: 6561689
Abstract: An automotive center high mount stop lamp (“CHMSL”) comprising a housing, a LED array circuit board having at least one LED, a lens/reflector, and a cover. The housing comprises a base and a trapping panel which are joined by a living hinge which allows the trapping panel to be folded over the base. In the folded position the trapping panel serves to secure the LED array circuit board in position without the need for additional means to retain the LED array circuit board. The lens/reflector and cover, respectively, are then fixably attached to the housing.
