Abstract: An apparatus includes a flow cell, an imaging assembly, and a processor. The flow cell includes a channel and a plurality of reaction sites. The imaging assembly is operable to receive light emitted from the reaction sites in response to an excitation light. The processor is configured to drive relative movement between at least a portion of the imaging assembly and the flow cell along a continuous range of motion to thereby enable the imaging assembly to capture images along the length of the channel. The processor is also configured to activate the imaging assembly to capture one or more calibration images of one or more calibration regions of the channel, during a first portion of the continuous range of motion. The processor is also configured to activate the imaging assembly to capture images of the reaction sites during a second portion of the continuous range of motion.

Abstract: Textured sandwich spread or dip compositions comprising a dairy component comprising cream cheese, an oil-water emulsion comprising oil and water, and a legume-based component. The combination of cream cheese and the legume-based component provide a significantly more hearty texture to the composition than that provided by existing sandwich spreads, such as mayonnaise or mustard. The composition is advantageously phase stable so as to provide excellent shelf-stability so that proteins and other solid components of the composition do not retrograde or precipitate, even when hot filled into a container during preparation and packaging.

Abstract: Vaccine adjuvant food nanoemulsion compositions comprising a food safe nonionic surfactant, a hydrophobic food flavorant (e.g., an essential oil), a kosmotrope, and water. The nanoemulsion composition can be used as a vaccine adjuvant composition to enhance inactivated antigens, including protein antigens. Such compositions may be delivered as a nasal or oral spray. The compositions may inherently contain natural antimicrobials and antioxidants and are advantageous over other compositions which often require preservatives, flavorings and antimicrobials.
