Abstract: Systems, methods, devices and software for negotiating and executing registry composition are described. Signaling frameworks for both of these aspects of registry composition are provided.

Abstract: A cluster of terminals, and an ad-hoc network of two or more such clusters, for carrying a multi-party, cluster-based, conference, wherein each cluster includes a super member comprising a super user agent, and one or more members including a user agent. Communications sessions are established between the super member of each cluster and each member terminals of the same cluster, and between the super members of each one of the first and second clusters. The user agent comprises identity of the super member, a conference identity, cluster parameters including a split value (Sv) indicative of a maximum number of terminals that may be part of the cluster, wherein when Sv is reached during the conference the cluster is split, and a merge value (Mv) indicative of a minimum number of terminals that may be part of the cluster, wherein when Mv is reached the cluster is merged with another cluster.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling media handling in a multimedia conference between participants in a cellular network and participants in a mobile ad-hoc wireless network is disclosed. The disclosed multimedia conference mediator comprises a first interfacing unit for communicating with a media gateway controller in the mobile ad-hoc wireless network, a second interface for communicating with a media resource controller in a centralized media resource unit in the cellular network, and a mediator core configured to establish a media-bearing connection between a media mixer in the mobile ad-hoc wireless network and a media resource processor in the cellular network, using the media resource controller and the media gateway controller.

Abstract: Methods for establishing a cluster-based multi-party conference and for carrying on the conference as participants join or leave the conference are provided. First, two or more terminals participating to the conference are joined in a cluster, wherein one of them is elected as a super member of the cluster. The other terminal is updated with the identity of the super member terminal, the identification of the conference, and with cluster parameters including a split value Sv indicative of a maximum number of terminals that may be part of the cluster, wherein when the split value Sv is reached during the conference, the cluster is split; and a merge value Mv indicative of a minimum number of terminals that may be part of the cluster, wherein when the merge value Mv is reached during the conference, the cluster is merged with another cluster. A method for splitting the cluster, and a method for merging two clusters are also provided.

Abstract: A system and method for service differentiation enabling a user to express the level of importance of a session being established and change the level during the session while satisfying QoS profiles. An extension of the 3GPP IMS architecture includes a Session Prioritization Function (SPF) in communication with a S-CSCF and a Context Information Base (CIB) which provides network contextual information. Upon receiving a session initiation or change request, the S-CSCF queries the SPF for a resource allocation/deallocation decision. The SPF consults session prioritization policies and the contextual information to make an informed decision. If the load on the IMS network is normal or light, the SPF utilizes an upper limit policy to limit resources for each service class. Otherwise, the SPF limits the size of multi-party sessions and utilizes soft and hard preemption to transfer network resources between classes.

Abstract: A registry composition entity coordinates the composition of two or more individual registries in separate networks into a merged registry when said networks compose. The registry composition entity comprises a coordination module to enable communication with remote registry composition entities in other networks, a composability check module for negotiating a composition agreement with composition modules of other registry composition entities; and a composition manager to execute the composition agreement to create said merged registry.

Abstract: A method and conference controller for cluster-based conferencing between ad-hoc network terminals supporting cluster-based conferences and legacy network terminals not equipped with such capabilities. The controller implements a Super User Agent (SUA) having a conference identity, a cluster member list including identities of legacy network's terminals members of a cluster of terminals of the legacy network participating to the conference, and a cluster neighbour list that identifies terminals from an ad-hoc network that act as a super member of a cluster of terminals of the ad-hoc network.
