  • Publication number: 20220299676
Abstract: A free-space well connection method of determining parameters for modeling a reservoir is disclosed. The method is conducted by a computer system (100) having a processor (110) and non-transitory memory (120) that stores data including instructions to be executed by the processor (110), the processor (110) executing a modeling module (102) stored in the memory (120), the modeling module (102) having data representing a grid with a well-cell (202) and at least one link-cell (204), each of the at least one link-cell (204i) having a common face (?i) with the well-cell (202), the well-cell (202) and the at least one link-cell (204) being a local cell array.

  • Patent number: 10423431
Abstract: Computing systems, computer-readable media, and methods may include determining, for a hydrocarbon field, one or more formation properties and one or more fluid properties and determining, for the hydrocarbon field, a location of one or more wells and a configuration of the one or more wells. The method may include dividing the hydrocarbon field into one or more grid cells. The method may include simulating fluid flow in at least one of the one or more grid cells based on a multi-point well connection process. The multi-point well connection process may determine flow conditions between the one or more wells and the at least of the one or more grid cells. The method may include determining one or more parameters of the one or more wells based at least in part on the fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 9910173
Abstract: A method can include receiving fluid saturation data for fluid saturation parameters associated with permeabilities of a multidimensional spatial model of a geologic environment; adjusting at least a portion of the fluid saturation data to provide adjusted fluid saturation data by optimizing a quadratic function subject to linear constraints; and simulating flow of fluid using the adjusted fluid saturation data for fluid saturation parameters associated with permeabilities and the multidimensional spatial model of the geologic environment.

  • Publication number: 20160131800
Abstract: Systems, methods, and media for modeling fluid-conducting fractures in reservoir grid simulations. The method includes determining a model of an underground reservoir. The model includes one or more conductive fractures and a grid of three-dimensional (3D) reservoir cells. The method also includes determining the 3D reservoir cells that intersect the conductive fracture. The method further includes determining two-dimensional (2D) fracture cells representing the conductive fracture in the model. Additionally, the method includes determining fluid flow through the conductive fracture using fluid flow parameters of the plurality the 3D reservoir cells intersecting the fracture and fluid flow parameters of the 2D fracture cells. Further, the method includes updating the model based on the fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 8285532
Abstract: To provide a simplified subterranean model of a subterranean structure, a first grid size for the simplified subterranean model is selected, where the first grid size is coarser than a second grid size associated with a detailed subterranean model. The simplified subterranean model is populated with subterranean properties according to the selected first grid size, where multiple realizations of the simplified subterranean model are provided for different sets of values of the subterranean properties. The realizations of the simplified subterranean model are ranked based on comparing outputs of simulations of the realizations with measured data associated with the subterranean structure.
