  • Publication number: 20030213280
Abstract: Control systems for indenters used in cold working processes, and in particular, for StressWave cold working of metal workpieces. Load on an indenter is increased by increasing the force applied, such as by pressure in a hydraulic reservoir acting on a piston. When the load reaches a desired limit, as may be calibrated by the pressure in the fluid reservoir responsive to the piston being driven by the indenter, then a pressure relief valve allows the fluid to flow from the cylinder to a hydraulic reservoir, thus allowing the indenter shaft to move away from the workpiece. Then, on recycle of the apparatus, an automatic control system reacts to such movement and pumps fluid back to the reservoir, and thus returns the indenter shaft to a pre-determined position. In one embodiment, the pressure relief valve is integrated into, or attached to, the indenter. Other embodiments are disclosed for control of various compound or simple indenters.

  • Patent number: 5251670
Abstract: Flush valves for alternately supplying freshwater or seawater coolant to marine engines. Such valves, used in combination with a marine engine cooling system, facilitate flushing of contaminants. In one embodiment, the valve includes a first portion having inlet conduits, a second portion having outlet conduits, and means for rotatably securing the first and second portions together with minimal gap therebetween. Inlet and outlet portions are alternately positioned in a first, single fluid flow relationship (seawater supply) wherein only a first fluid is directed through outlet conduits, or in a second, multiple fluid flow relationship (flushing operation) wherein both a first and a second fluid are sent to outlet conduits. Also, sealing means is provided between the first and second portions to prevent liquid from escaping through the gap therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4153818
Abstract: A telephone multiline signaling system using a common signal pair of lines for transmitting coded electrical signals for selectively connecting one or more of a plurality of telephone lines to a telephone line or channel located at an operator's console. The operator can rapidly and automatically produce coded electrical signals by manipulating mechanical thumb wheel switches so as to instruct a service center to connect any one or more of a plurality of telephone lines to the console so as to enable the operator to listen and/or talk over a plurality of lines simultaneously. The system includes an on-site console having a plurality of mechanically operated thumb wheel switches provided thereon on which the desired lines to be connected thereto can be dialed in. Electrical coded signals are fed to a plurality of banks of line AND gates representing units, tens and hundreds, a group of channel gates and a command gate.
