  • Patent number: 10803167
Abstract: The disclosed computer-implemented method for executing application launchers may include (i) creating a security sandbox within an operating system environment, (ii) executing an original application launcher within the security sandbox, and (iii) registering the security sandbox as a new application launcher within the operating system environment such that the original application launcher is still available to a user through the security sandbox and the security sandbox supplements the original application launcher by providing a layer of protection for the user. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10778840
Abstract: The disclosed computer-implemented method for identifying unsolicited communications on a computing device may include a computing device receiving a communication from an unrecognized phone number; obtaining the unrecognized phone number from the communication; obtaining classification data associated with the unrecognized phone number based on categories of other computing devices contacted by the unrecognized phone number; obtaining a category associated with a phone number of the computing device; determining that the communication is an unsolicited communication based on the classification data and the category associated with the phone number of the computing device; and in response to determining that the communication is unsolicited, performing a security action to manage interactions with the communication from the unrecognized phone number. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9773108
Abstract: The disclosed computer-implemented method for performing operations on restricted mobile computing platforms may include (1) receiving a request to perform an operation on a mobile device, (2) requesting access to a synchronization profile of the mobile device that represents the current state of the mobile device, (3) receiving access to the synchronization profile, and (4) performing the operation on the mobile device by performing an analogous operation on the synchronization profile. In some examples, the operation may require access to a current state of the mobile device, and a mobile computing platform of the mobile device may place a limitation on the ability of third-party software to (a) inspect the current state of the mobile device, (b) modify the current state of the mobile device, and/or (c) execute resource-intensive operations via the mobile device. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7613445
Abstract: The cost control module 120 controls costs associated with automated access to mobile services for processes running on mobile devices 110. The module 120 performs cost control in a user-friendly manner so the user is affected by the processes as minimally as possible, but the user is also not forced to pay large fees when the processes access certain mobile services. If a program needs to access a mobile data service to complete a function, the module 120 determines what various mobile services are available, and the cost of accessing each service. The module 120 prioritizes the services according to cost. The value of granting the program access to the service is weighed against the cost of access and a determination is made regarding whether access should be allowed.

  • Patent number: 4008596
Abstract: An arrangement for working the interior cross-section of a thin-walled circular pipe or other cylinder to a symmetrical, non-circular cross-section such as a rectangular or a flat-oval form is described. The pipe to be worked is advanced over and into contact with a conforming mandrel whose outer surface has a cross-section that corresponds to the internal, initially round cross-section of the pipe. The mandrel is provided with an outer cross-section that varies axially from an input round cross-section corresponding to that of the pipe to an output cross-section that matches the final configuration of the worked pipe, while exhibiting a constant peripheral dimension throughout its length. The mandrel is made freely-rotatable about its axis as the pipe is advanced along and in contact with the mandrel in order to maintain a coaxial configuration of the resulting contoured pipe.
