Patent number: 8423616Abstract: Technologies are described herein for identifying and correlating e-mail messages. The contents of the subject and recipients fields of e-mail messages received at and sent from a computing system are hashed and stored in a database. When an incoming e-mail message is received at the computing system, the contents of its subject and recipients fields are also hashed. A search is then made of the database to locate e-mail messages identified in the database that have a sufficient number of subject and address hash values that match the subject and address hash values generated for the incoming e-mail message so that the messages may be correlated. A correlation is made between the incoming e-mail message and the best matching e-mail message located during the search of the database.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2007Date of Patent: April 16, 2013Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Dominic J. Pouzin, Ilana Rae Smith

Patent number: 8352553Abstract: Technologies are described herein for providing a bi-direction e-mail transport between a management (“CRM”) server computer and an e-mail server computer. An e-mail connector communicates with a CRM server computer to determine whether any e-mail messages are pending send at the CRM server computer. If any e-mail messages are pending send, the e-mail connector retrieves the e-mail messages from the CRM server computer. The e-mail connector then communicates with an e-mail server computer to send the retrieved e-mail messages to their intended recipients. The e-mail connector may also retrieve e-mail messages from the e-mail server computer and determine whether the e-mail messages are CRM related. If the e-mail messages are CRM related, the e-mail connector is operative to transmit the CRM-related e-mails to the CRM server.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2007Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Dominic J. Pouzin, Ilana Rae Smith, Shashi Ranjan, David Robert Shutt

Patent number: 6547483Abstract: A clamping device to hold adjacent formwork panels has a backing plate against which edges of the adjacent formwork panels can be held, at least one rod extending from the backing plate, and a clamping member able to move along the rod between a clamping position where the member clamps the formwork panels against the backing plate, and a free position where the formwork panels can be removed.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1999Date of Patent: April 15, 2003Assignee: Concrete Form Hire Pty Ltd.Inventor: Clifford John Rae-Smith

Patent number: 6442714Abstract: A centralized product testing system and method for its operation are disclosed. The system has a test application server that communicates with remote users as a web-based application. Equipment testers login to the system through their web browser. They can then run tests while viewing instructions for the test and entering results in dynamically-generated web browser forms tailored to their test. Completed forms (including files generated by test equipment tied to a tester's computer) can then be uploaded to the testing system. The testing system relates the test data to the product under test and stores the data in a relational database. The test data can then be used to dynamically generate preliminary or formal test reports for compliance and other purposes. The system has many benefits. For example, because test procedures, data, and report forms are all centrally stored, they can be reliably maintained and quickly updated.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1999Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Assignee: Cisco TechnologyInventors: Andrew Griffin, Daniel Paul Teeter, Shannon Rae Smith

Patent number: 6262778Abstract: An image processing system 11 is arranged to produce data representing a combined image from foreground data F representing a foreground subject in front of a chroma backing and background data B representing a background image. The foreground data is processed and color corrected to produce first and second processed foreground data which is combined in a combiner 25 under the control of a first key K1. The background data is processed using a second key K2 to “cut” a “hole” in the background image. The processed background data and the combined foreground data are added together in an adder 44. A third key K3 is used to remove unwanted data from the added foreground and background data and to combine the resulting data with the processed background data in a combiner 45.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1998Date of Patent: July 17, 2001Assignee: Quantel LimitedInventors: Brian Robert Nonweiler, Adam Rae-Smith

Patent number: 6067073Abstract: An electronic graphic system comprises an image store for storing data defining an image, a brush store for storing data defining a drawing implement and a stylus and touch tablet for inputting position data and other data. A spatial filter is arranged to respond to the data from the stylus and touch tablet device to filter the brush data to produce brush data defining a drawing implement of a size depending on the data from the stylus and touch tablet device. The filtered brush data is used by a drawing processor to process data in the image store.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1997Date of Patent: May 23, 2000Assignee: Quantel LimitedInventors: Adam Rae-Smith, Colin John Wrey, Matthew Sumner, John Kenneth Cordery

Patent number: 5557713Abstract: Features in an image being modified can be expanded or contracted under the control of the user. The expansion and contraction are both executed by offsetting image data and then writing the offset data to a store where it is combined by a weighted summation with data previously stored therein. This operation is repeated for different offsets. The effect of the weighted summation is also to add soft edges to features in the picture and the system may therefore be used to soften control images.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1995Date of Patent: September 17, 1996Assignee: Quantel LimitedInventor: Adam Rae-Smith

Patent number: 4777598Abstract: A processing system and method which produces and manipulates images of a three dimensional object. Patches of video signals (called cameos) representing different parallel planes of an object are stored in a frame store from which each cameo can be accessed individually and manipulated as desired. When the effect of a change in orientation or position of the object is required in the output image each cameo is accessed and manipulated in the same manner and combined using key and priority signals. The manipulation is achieved by writing incoming video signals into addresses in a store determined by the manipulation required and provided as address maps. The medical embodiment replaces the cameos with frames of signals representing tomographic sections of a patient and uses a LUT to provide a window for certain ranges of signals.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1986Date of Patent: October 11, 1988Assignee: Quantel LimitedInventors: Paul R. N. Kellar, Adam R. Rae-Smith

Patent number: 4652921Abstract: Video signals from radiography equipment (14) are converted to digital form and transferred via a buffer store, (2) to a parallel transfer disc store (3) in real time. These signals can then be read, out again in real time, to a video processor (6) and frame store (8) to provide image enhancement. The enhanced image can then be converted to analog form and displayed on display means (13). The parallel transfer mode of operation of the disc store (3) enables the video signals to be stored in real time. A computer (7) provides control signals to the system.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1985Date of Patent: March 24, 1987Assignee: Quantel LimitedInventor: Adam R. Rae-Smith

Patent number: 4559647Abstract: A garment convertible from scarf to mitts is formed by a tubular member with a central arms receiving opening to allow the wearer's arms to extend through the tubular member and through a collar at each distal end, which collar when folded over converts into a cuff. Cooperating with the collar is an overlying flap formed into a pocket positioned with a mouth opening facing, but on the reverse side from, the arm receiving opening, and designed to reversingly fold over and cover the finger tips of the wearer. A protuberance in the tubular member is defined near each collar for accommodating the thumbs, whereby a mitten is formed. In another embodiment, a singular sleeve can have the mitten and thumb accommodating protuberance combination near the collar.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1984Date of Patent: December 24, 1985Inventors: Rae Smith, Patricia Moratto
