  • Patent number: 5941561
Abstract: An apparatus for the quick inflation of an airbag has a compressed-gas tank and a propellant charge container having pyrotechnical contents which form a propellant gas upon ignition. A breakaway disk blocks passage of compressed-gas and propellant gas to the airbag and is blown off in response to the ignition of the pyrotechnical contents to unblock the passages. The breakaway disk has an opening through which the propellant gas can flow into the airbag immediately after the ignition and before the breakaway disk is blown off.

  • Patent number: 5402678
Abstract: The invention relates to a device as well as a method of monitoring the movements of a breech-block of a firearm, in which the time duration of a sequence of cyclical movements of the breech-block is sensed to provide a like sequence of pulses. Each cyclical movement of the breech-block from and to a rest position provides a pulse of a width initiated upon the movement of the breech-block from the rest position and terminated upon the return movement of the breech-block to the rest position, each part movement corresponding to a bullet firing. The number, duration and time spacing between successive ones of the pulses is analysed to determine the nature of the firearm operation effected by at least one movement of the breech-block.

  • Patent number: 5378018
Abstract: The invention related to a process for quickly inflating a gas cushion in a safety system of the air bag type in which at least two pressurized filling gases are stored being shielded from each other. Instead of the filling gases, initially only the starting material(s) of one or both filling gases can be stored. In case of need, for instance upon a crash-characteristic signal, the filling gases are released from their reservoirs; if necessary, the starting material(s) of one or more filling gases is/are first ignited due to the crash-characteristic signal and then produce(s) the filling gas. The released filling gases are then concentrated and finally inflate the gas cushion or air bag.

  • Patent number: 5164537
Abstract: A hand firearm with a casing in which the system is arranged and a valve leading from the inside of the casing to the outside which is so designed that an overpressure in the casing may be vented to the outside, in which a gas-permeable, heat conducting solid medium is arranged in the region of the valve in the flow path of the gas leaving via the valve in order to prevent any danger from hot gases being forced out of the weapon.

  • Patent number: 4510844
Abstract: An electrical firing mechanism for hand guns and small caliber machine guns having a tension trigger which tightens a compression spring locading an impact member which when released strikes a piezo-voltage generator. The output of the generator leads to an electrical detonator. A firing mode selecting system, includes a lever which serves to engage a safety to block the trigger and to provide other firing modes such as burst and sustained fire. An additional source of electrical energy is provided in addition to the piezo-voltage generator, which can be connected with the detonator by way of the trigger, and the selecting system.
