  • Patent number: 4227653
Abstract: Moist municipal waste is subjected to a preliminary comminuting action to reduce the size of solid constituents to less than 100 mm, and the larger heavy particles are thereupon segregated from lighter particles which include relatively small fibrous particles and relatively large additional lighter particles. The additional lighter particles are segregated from the relatively small fibrous particles and are subjected to a severing action to reduce their size to a size not exceeding that of the lighter fibrous particles. The fibrous particles are thereupon mixed with severed additional particles, and the mixture is dried and ozonized prior to classification into larger, medium-sized and smaller fractions. At least the larger fractions are used for the manufacture of shaped articles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 5, 1979
Date of Patent: October 14, 1980
    Assignee: Gewerbebank Baden Aktiengesellschaft

  • Patent number: 3989499
Abstract: Household, agricultural, forestry, and/or commercial refuse containing a mix of organic substances which respectively decompose rapidly, less rapidly and slowly, is converted into a fibrous material by subjecting the refuse to aerobic decomposition which is interrupted after only the rapidly decomposable organic substances are decomposed, whereby a fibrous material is obtained which is thereupon dried and sterilized. A hardenable binder material may be admixed with the resultant dried fibrous material and the mixture may be shaped to desired configuration and the binder material hardened under simultaneous application of pressure to make a shaped body.

  • Patent number: 3951731
Abstract: In a process for the production of fiber substances from waste which contains aerobically unstable components, the waste is subjected to aerobic decomposition at a temperature of at least 50.degree.C in the presence of oxygen to form a fibrous mass and then the mass is treated with solvents which dissolve these components. This eliminates the odor characteristic of fiber substances produced from waste. An arrangement for carrying out the process is also disclosed.
