Publication number: 20200130073Abstract: A cutting device having a spring that is compressed. After a firing pin retainer has travelled a predetermined path, a locking element is released. The release results in the spring being released, causing the firing pin to be accelerated and at the end to strike a percussion cap, whereby a pyrotechnic charge therein is ignited and thereby a delay element, if provided, is lit. This delay element regulates the delay time. Afterwards, an additional charge is ignited. The gas volume thus generated applies pressure to the cutting element. Above a certain pressure the shear pin shears off, causing the cutting element to be axially accelerated. The cutting element strikes the stop at high speed as a result of the acceleration, and penetrates into same. A connection to be cut, which is guided through an opening in front of the stop, is thereby severed.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2019Publication date: April 30, 2020Applicant: RHEINMETALL WAFFE MUNITION GMBHInventors: Tobias MODEREGGER, Rainer GAISBAUER, Benjamin HUBER, Thomas LEOPOLD

Patent number: 9097501Abstract: An explosive material container (1) for a block of explosive material (7), in particular comprising a protective film (8), is described in which an inflow protection element in the form of a cover (2) with integrated protection, support, guiding and/or positioning functions is provided. The inflow protection cover (2) is, preferably, provided with sealing and/or adhesive material and is placed on two or more edge profiles (3, 4, 5, 6) of the explosive material container (1), on the firing side, on the explosive material block (7) packed in the protective film (8). Positioning tips (9, 9.1) of the inflow protection cover (2) and the explosive material container (1) assume the positioning function.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2010Date of Patent: August 4, 2015Assignee: Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbHInventor: Rainer Gaisbauer

Patent number: 9062941Abstract: An effect body is encapsulated in such a way that the encapsulation or casing supports the ignition behavior of the effect body or of the components. The effect body has a casing for accommodating the components of the effect body, which differ with regard to the chemical composition and the properties thereof. An additional component is located in the casing as an ignition aid. The effect body can be ignited through the top/side surface of the casing or by an internal ignition mixture located inside the effect body.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2012Date of Patent: June 23, 2015Assignee: Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbHInventors: Johannes Grundler, Juergen Hofmann, Rainer Gaisbauer, Markus Jung, Michael Koepf

Patent number: 8783183Abstract: An active body is provided that includes at least one active mass block made of monobasic or polybasic high-energy materials such as a nitrocellulose mixture, for example, comprising approximately 60 percent nitroglycerin and 40 percent diethylene glycol dinitrate, which is provided with structures both on a surface and on an interior. In addition, the inner structures can be filled with an active mass substance. The ignition is triggered by a pyrotechnical primer composition, which initiates the active body, preferably from the inside.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2007Date of Patent: July 22, 2014Assignee: Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbHInventors: Rainer Gaisbauer, Heinz Bannach, Vikron Kadavanich, Martin Fegg, Christian Wagner

Patent number: 8763533Abstract: An active body (1) is proposed that has, as active mass (5), multiple flares (2, 3) arranged behind each other or stacked, in particular for the generation of decoys, wherein the flares (2, 3) are NC (nitrocellulose) and RP (red phosphorus) single flares. The single flares (2, 3) are evenly or unevenly stacked in succession such that one RP single flare (3) lies on an NC single flare (2), or multiple NC single flares (2) or multiple RP single flares (3) follow each other, so that it is possible to vary the percentage of NC and RP in the active body (1) from about 0% to about 100%. A container (4) houses the active mass (5), and can in turn have predetermined breaking points (7) to facilitate the break up of the active body (1).Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2011Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbHInventors: Nenad Prelic, Vikorn Martin Kadavanich, Rainer Gaisbauer

Patent number: 8485098Abstract: The invention relates to a safety device (1) for a block of explosive material, forming a missile decoy, that is introduced into an explosive material container (2) with a sabot (4) and an ignition transmission charge (5). The safety device (1) is characterized by a prestressed tube sensor/slide (6) that is connected between the sabot (4), the ignition transmission charge (5) and the explosive material container (2) such that it can release or re-close an ignition channel (13) disposed between the ignition transmission charge (5) and the explosive material.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2010Date of Patent: July 16, 2013Assignee: Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbHInventor: Rainer Gaisbauer

Publication number: 20120152141Abstract: An active body (2) is proposed that includes an active mass that comprises multiple flares (3, 4) arranged behind each other or stacked, in particular for the generation of decoys. The active body (2) is enclosed in a plastics-like container (1), such as a plastic film (5) or a shrink tube (7). Plastic disks or films (8) are placed on the end face of the container and are connected to the plastic film (5) or the plastic shrink tube (7) by adhesion or heat sealing (6) so that the plastic container (1) is hermetically sealed.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 27, 2011Publication date: June 21, 2012Applicant: Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbHInventors: Nenad Prelic, Vikorn Martin Kadavanich, Heribert Eglauer, Rainer Gaisbauer, Florian Huber
