  • Patent number: 6514379
Abstract: A procedure for arranging water circulations in an integrated paper mill, the paper making process of which having three partly separate process phases concerning the water circulations (I, II, III). In the first phase, the fiber raw material is pretreated, defibered and cleaned for producing mechanical, chemi-mechanical and recycled pulp, in the second phase the pulp is treated further for improving the quality, and in the third phase it is made into paper or board. The circulation waters of the first process phase are concentrated by circulating the filtrates of the concentration and pressing phases counter-current inside the water circulation (I), and the circulation water thus concentrated is conducted into an effluent evaporation plant to be concentrated and then burnt in a combustion boiler. The water quantity discharged from the water circulation (I) of the first process phase is replaced by conducting such circulation waters of the paper mill into the front dilution of the press.

  • Patent number: 6190504
Abstract: A method in a paper machine for arrangement of water circulation therefor and arrangement of a water circulation system in a paper machine. In view of full or partial closing of the water circulations in a paper machine, the wash water flows from the fabrics and from other devices in the paper machine as well as the water drained from the paper web to be produced are recovered selectively based on the place of origin thereof in the paper machine. At least a part of the recovered different water flows are cleaned, and the cleaned water flows are recirculated to applications of reuse suitable in view of their washing potential in the papermaking process.

  • Patent number: 5968317
Abstract: A method for arranging water circulation in a paper mill including a pulp manufacturing plant provided with a water circulation system, such as a TMP plant, and a paper machine provided with a water circulation system. In order to reduce the amount of fresh water supplied to the paper mill, a part of the amount of fresh water supplied to the paper mill is substituted for by water or waters cleaned locally from waters contaminated at the paper mill. The concentrate or concentrates obtained from the stages of water cleaning is/are utilized where applicable by arranging the concentrate(s) to flow upstream in relation to the raw-material flow for reuse at the paper mill. By means of these operations, the amount of contaminants circulating in the paper mill is controlled.

  • Patent number: 5961784
Abstract: A method for reducing the consumption of fresh water and energy in a paper mill in which fresh water is passed into the paper mill for various needs, and a cooling tower is utilized for cooling water heated in the papermaking process. All fresh waters or a substantial proportion of the fresh waters of the paper mill are introduced into the process through the water system of the cooling tower. The cooling tower includes at least one inlet for passing the water to be cooled into the cooling tower, nozzles for discharging the water that was passed in and that is to be cooled onto heat transfer faces, filler pieces and/or filler plates, which disperse the water to be cooled so as to increase the contact area between the water and the cooling air, at least one outlet for passing the cooled water out of the cooling tower, and blowers for blowing the cooling air through the cooling tower.
