Patent number: 7892461Abstract: Description of a method for the production of a pigmented thermoplastic material. The method characterizes that during a first step an aqueous suspension presenting a solid matter contents of approximately 10 to 75% by weight, containing at least one flow enhancer in form of dissolved salt and the pigment, is ground under alkaline conditions in a high energy charging mill by means of grinding bodies having a diameter of 0.2 to 2 mm, and the obtained grinding product is transformed during a second step with a thermoplastic material into the pigmented thermoplastic material by means of a flush process performed by a kneader or extruder, at increased temperature and a pH value of initially 7 or less. In addition, the invention concerns a pigmented thermoplastic material produced according to said method, as well as beneficial applications for production of transparent molded bodies, in particular of fibers, foils, injection moldings and extruded parts.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2006Date of Patent: February 22, 2011Assignee: Heubach GmbHInventors: Gerard E. Patent number: 7824487Abstract: The invention covers a fine-particle, brilliant and strongly hiding rutile-based pigment that is devoid of any metal or reactive metal compounds relevant to mill abrasion detectable by application technology but whose particle-size in terms of particle diameters ranges from 50 to 1000 nm, for mono-, bi-, tri- or oligo-modal size distribution and a primary maximum ranges from 230 to 400 nm, wherein optionally for a bi- or poly-modal frequency distribution, a secondary maximum is less than 25% of the primary maximum between 400 and 1000 nm. The process for producing said pigment comprises treating an inorganic mixed-phase rutile structured oxide pigment by high-speed grinding in suspension in a ball grinding mill provided with a mechanically and chemically resistant coating until said particle-size and a substantially isometric rounded particle shape are attained. The invention optionally provides for viscosity adjustment and surface conditioning of the pigment.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2007Date of Patent: November 2, 2010Assignee: Heubach GmbHInventor: Rainer Heubach

Patent number: 7569106Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing an aqueous suspension of pure-phase ?-copper phtalocyanine blue pigment using an agitator ball mill. According to said method: a) in a preparatory step, a phthalocyanine crude blue is suspended by means of a dissolver in an aqueous medium, said aqueous medium containing in particular lipophilic substances, which are similar to binding agents and are compatible with the final application medium and crystalline-phase controlling and/or pigment-surface conditioning compounds; b) said aqueous suspension of the phthalocyanine crude blue is ground in an agitator ball mill to form a suspension of a ?-phtalocyanine blue pigment. The aqueous suspension thus obtained is characterized in that it contains a high-grade ?-phtalocyanine blue pigment for producing a conditioned ?-phtalocyanine blue pigment. The advantage is that said suspension can also be directly converted into a colour concentrate, in particular by means of a flushing and kneading method.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2005Date of Patent: August 4, 2009Assignee: Colour Ltd.Inventors: Rainer Heubach, Dieter Lieske

Publication number: 20070000411Abstract: Described is a method for the manufacture of a pastel-white, highly opaque, micro-particle rutile pigment from a crude rutile, synrutile or from a slag-like rutile-type precursor characteristic for traditional titanium dioxide production from processing ilmenite into titanium dioxide. This method distinguishes itself in that the starter material in form of the crude rutile, synrutile or the slag-like rutile-type precursor is ground down in several stages in high efficiency mills without leaving any significant metallic fines, to a particle size of approximately 200 to 600 nm, whereby initially a dry pre-grinding step is performed and thereafter with high recorded grinding output a wet grinding step is performed in a final grinding phase. The ground-down product is dried and the obtained rutile pigment is calcinated in finely distributed form at temperatures between 790 and 1050° C.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 23, 2006Publication date: January 4, 2007Inventors: Rainer Heubach, Reinhard Marx

Patent number: 4536385Abstract: A method and an apparatus for the production of industrial lead oxide involving mixing molten lead and air in a reactor. A particularly advantageous, having a desired particle size can be obtained with a PbO content of considerably more than 99%. The lead flow is introduced at a constant and even rate and the air flow is altered very slightly in order to maintain the pre-determined reaction temperature having fluctuations of a maximum of .+-.5.degree. C.The constant and steady infeed of the lead flow is achieved by using an apparatus according to the invention. The apparatus, which is situated above the reactor, includes a supply vessel charged with molten lead from a melt container, the supply vessel having an exchangeable nozzle which is provided with a control-operated cleaning pin. The nozzle extends into a reaction space and the supply vessel is connected to the melt container via a feed line and an overflow.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1983Date of Patent: August 20, 1985Assignee: Goslarer Farbenwerke Dr. Hans Heubach GmbH & Co.
