  • Publication number: 20060086407
Abstract: The disclosed apparatus includes a supply line (22) between a source of liquid paint (64) and an applicator (62) having at least two pigs (20A and 20B) and a source of liquid solvent (60) which delivers solvent (60) between the two pigs (20A and 20B) and the pigs (20A and 20B) are driven by paint (80) from adjacent the paint source (64) to the applicator (62). The apparatus further includes a second source of liquid solvent (60) which delivers solvent (60) between the pigs (20A and 20B) adjacent the applicator (62) and the pigs (20A and 20B) are returned through the supply line (22), thereby flushing the supply line (22). In the disclosed embodiment, the source of liquid paint (64) is a piston dosing device (70) which receives paint (80) from a color changer or the like and delivers a predetermined volume of paint (80) to the applicator (62). The delivery line (22) preferably includes a friction resistant inner layer, an intermediate dielectric layer and a protective outer layer.

  • Patent number: 7018679
Abstract: A change station for atomizer (7) and other tools that contains a carousel-like rotatable and/or linearly movable mount (112) is arranged on the wall of the cabin of a coating installation. The arrangement is such that the storage locations of the change station are accessible both to the coating machine (151) in the cabin and from outside the cabin.

  • Publication number: 20060019036
Abstract: The method of applying an electrically conductive paint of this invention includes delivering paint from a color changer (30) at ground potential, then electrically isolating the color changer (30) from the paint in a delivery line (100), and the delivering the paint through a first delivery line (74) to an electrically charged paint applicator (27). In the disclosed embodiment, paint is delivered from the color changer (30) to a paint cannister (34) having a piston (56) and the piston (56) is then extended to drive paint through the delivery tube (74) to the applicator (27) while the paint cannister (34) is electrically isolated from the color changer (30).

  • Patent number: 6972052
Abstract: In a coating device with a rotary atomizer, for preventing the condensation of spray cabin air on components cooled by the lower-pressure exhaust air of the drive turbine of the atomizer, a heating device is provided, which can heat air flowing through the atomizer or components in heat-conductive contact with the outlet path of the turbine exhaust air.

  • Publication number: 20050173018
Abstract: A paint delivery and application system including a color changer (20), at least two paint cannisters (34, 36) and a paint applicator (30), a first pair of supply lines (38, 42) connected between the color changer (20) and the paint cannisters (34, 36) and a second pair of supply lines connecting the paint cannisters and the paint applicator (30), wherein the paint cannisters operate in tandem permitting delivery of a first paint to one of the paint cannisters while a second paint cannister is electrically isolated from the color changer (20) and is delivering paint to the applicator (30). In one disclosed embodiment, the delivery line from the paint cannisters to the applicator includes two pigs and solvent is delivered between the pigs, such that this system is self purging.

  • Publication number: 20040192524
Abstract: An atomizer or other tool is fastened to a fixed part (F) of a robot of a coating installation by a pneumatic lock that can only be released automatically during storage of the tool by an external control device installed in a tool change station (10).
